Yes but ive actually heard from a pretty good source that said he contacted the forest service and anything off the main chimney rock trail is actually illegal. The "mini moab" areas where all the jeeps like to play is actually supposed to be off limits. Would i tell on somebody no but having found this out ill probably avoid those areas myself until i know for sure if its legal or not

For

So you are wondering what the F.O.R. stands for? Well it is Friends Of Reddington Pass FRP Home

This is their goal: FRP priorities are to:

Assure conservation and restoration of sensitive riparian areas along the Tanque Verde Creek, its watershed and wildlife corridors throughout the pass
Improve opportunities for non-motorized, quiet recreation activities such as hiking, biking, horseback riding, wildlife viewing, picnicking and camping
Improve safe conditions along Redington Road and throughout the Pass for residents and visitors

So some of us are going to go to their meeting this weekend with the forest service.

Sunday, April 7th we are asking everyone who uses the Redington Pass area for 4 wheeling and other activities to join us at 7:30am to attend a meet and greet sponsored by the "Friends of Redington Pass".

These fine folks have every intention of getting our favorite wheeling areas closed down so that we can't use them anymore. They have been successful with assisting in getting the shooting ranges closed (not that that was a bad thing) and are now hot on our trails.

If we can band together and make a showing, proving that we won't lay down and allow them to lobby against us it may help to provide us a position that they can't refuse to support, or at least understand that they won't be able to unilaterally ban us from our own public lands which ironically we probably take better care of than they themselves do.

So, this Sunday we will meet at Circle K on Tanque Verde at 7:30am and leave at 7:45am to caravan to the meeting and see what these guys have to say. There's power in numbers so if we outnumber the hikers and nudists then perhaps they will see that we are going to be enjoying the area right along with them.

I don't know if it's possible to get around 100 4x vehicles out there or not but if it is then lets do it!!! I need all the support I can get on this and my time is very limited lately so I'm reaching out to you guys on this one to in turn reach out to everyone you know too. Thanks guys. Make no mistake, these psycho's are serious in their mission....................

So what is their meet and greet about exactly? I'm not really an off roader but I do believe in people minding their own business and having their own fun.. Sounds like thats exactly what they don't do.

More info?

I can probably attend, for no other reason that to get really annoyed.

7:30 at the last circle K on Tanque Verde, we will have a little pow wow with the jeeps and then head up to talk with the forest service and show that we are involved as well.

I went Saturday and the people out there were more for keeping everything open just making sure everyone treads lightly which needs to be enforced more up there there was a fair amount of trash we picked up during the cleanup a few weeks back

This stuff is still in the early early stages but there is talk about adopting part of reddington road and a trail for cleanup. But like I said early stages of that.

I went to the doctor’s office a few days ago and found out I won’t be able to make Saturday’s night run (in fact it will be a while before I can do any runs).

My right arm has been hurting on the trail rides lately and I went to the doctor to get things checked out. I had an MRI done last week and went to the doctor yesterday to find out the results.

I have a torn rotator cuff in my right shoulder and he says the tear has gotten rather severe and he suggests I get it repaired as soon as I can. The earliest I can get in for surgery is May 15th and he suggests I take it easy until then. I’ll have my arm in a sling for another month after that, so it looks like I can’t do any rock crawling until after June 15th or so.

What really sucks is that I've never done a night run and I was really looking forward to it. I spent all this time getting it ready with new lights, etc. (lockers aren't hooked up yet but I figured it wouldn't slow me down)

It’s gonna suck shifting my 6-speed but It’s a good thing I’m proficient with my left hand on all the other important things.

It sucks to get old

Newb from Tucson (cortaro/ I10 area) checking in.

Can't wait to go on a ride with this group. Anyone else have an infant they take along (less than a year)? I have a 9 month old baby girl who absolutely loves the new jeep.

I either bring her and the wife along for the ride, or beg them to have a mommy/ daughter day....

I am going up to Redington this Friday. Probably going to do Chiva Falls but maybe Chimney Rock instead. Let me know if you want to come too. I will be going during the day, probably around 10-12.

Thanks! I plan on taking a bunch of pictures. This is the first time I will be off road since adding 33s, new bumpers, new sliders, a new tie rod, etc, etc.

Thinking about a quick run the morning of Saturday May 4th. A friend really wants to experience the jeep. Maybe Charleau or something else. Don't have all day so Charleau would be Catalina out and back. Suggestions and if anyone else is down we can get a small group. I've got one buddy with a 4Runner probably going to tag along.
