Visiting from Vegas

Coming to Phoenix for the Cards/Lions game this weekend and have time on Saturday for a simple trail, is there anything close to the AZ Stadium for an enjoyable off road trip? Not looking for anything long or too difficult, just something to get off the beaten path and see some of the Phoenix area that you wouldn't see while on the pavement.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Yea, you'll need to dedicate at least half a day for any trail.

About 45 minutes north is Lake Pleasant. Just to the east of the lake is a road named Castle Hot Springs Road. It is a loop that runs counter-clockwise through Castle Creek and through the hills, eventually ending back on Hwy. 74. I just did this loop last weekend. It took about 2 hours and I would rate it as easy. One of the cool places you drive by on this route is the Castle Hot Springs Resort. It has a great history, but unfortunately it hasn't been open since the late 1970's. Google earth this route…it was lots if fun with great scenery.

Thanks, I noticed Lake Pleasant on Google Maps this morning. I might try this out while I am done there this weekend.

The river is flowing HARD thanks to the rains on Monday and Tuesday. I wouldn't try it for a while.
