2.5L to 4.0L on 2002 TJ?

So here's my story...I bought my 2002 TJ two yrs ago. About 3 weeks ago the rod broke in it. So I'm stuck with a car payment and no jeep. So sad! Anyways its a 2.5L...very slow! So since I am already getting ready to pay a HUGE repair bill I was thinking about throwing a 4.0 instead. Anyone tried this? Can it be done? I know there would need to be some huge modifications done. Would it be worth it?? I'm just curious. Any advice would be awesome. Thanks for reading.

I have an 02 2.5L too. You'd have to replace a lot of things that can't handle the 4.0 power without breaking. So while you're thinking about it, you can put any engine you want in there like a Chevy for example. I'm still curious about a Toyota engine because they're so reliable. The Land Cruiser's got 4-wheel drive.

While you can. If you just drive the truck on the road yea you can do it with a few extra adapters from advanced adapters and everything will bolt up. You might want to find a AX-15 tranny tho would make life a lot easier on the trans.

If you haven't gotten more out of the insurance company than you deserve, then you haven't screwed them nearly as much as they have been screwing you for the past xx years.

How hard is it to change the motor mounts when you do this?
