I have a 2000 jeep wrangler tj with full doors. I have searched on the internet how to remove them and still don't fully understand by mere explanation. I've removed the door panel and have basically everything removed that im suppose to. I can't figure out how to remove the wedges on both sides of the inner handle plate. Also how do you remove the rod connecting the plate to the lock assembly?

Are there any videos on this? Youtubes got nothing...

To remove the wedges...


You need to pry the leg of the clip (red arrow) off the wedge...and at the same time, use a screwdriver or a long rod and push the wedge straight up. Once it's loose, push it up and then pull it out from the top. Do that on both sides and the door handle will pop right out of the door.

do yourself a favor and buy a crows foot, this tool will make taking interior panels, bumpers, push ins, and especially door inards apart really simple. Its a lot easier than fumbling around with a screw driver.

The last two are crows feet. The first tool is a tool used to remove the c-clip off of manual window cranks. The crows foot is probably the one tool i use the most every day, its a must have for autobody related work.

Interesting...I've never seen one of those before. Does look useful...I'll have to pick some up sometime. Thanks for the info on that.
