Talking Bad Gas Mileage / Drives like a Brick

I just found some funny pictures of the aerodynamics of a car vs the aerodynamics of a jeep wrangler.
This might explain the 12 mpg that I get in my 97 TJ.

I still choose a wrangler.

i saw a pic one time comparing the aerodynamics of a wrangler to that of a fridge with wheels, the fridge won lol. i almost never go over 50 in my heep so i dont think aerodynamics mean much. i think i get bad mileage because i need new o2 sensors and probably a cat.

Ha Ha! thats a funny picture. I got my TJ up to 96mph downhill. I thought my whole front end was gonna rip off and blow away. You can really feel the wind force pushing on the grill. I had a gps unit and just was curious to see what it would do pegged out. Not doing that ever again

96mph? That would have been pretty scary. Lifted?

Yeah it was lifted with 2.5 in coils in the front and spacers in the back. It was scary. I kept looking at the hood and front fenders shaking thinking something is gonna give.

I would think having a 4 Cylinder Wrangler is the absolute best thing for your "problem."

Sort of like making an alcoholic move to Utah.

The pictures are nice.

My other car

My other car is a Jeep Liberty which gets 16-18mpg, maybe 24mpg on the highway. So I knew what I was getting into with another jeep.

I could have bought a car shaped like a teardrop, that would slide on ice, get stuck in mud and increase my smugness. Not enough torque or acceleration.

I love my refrigerator on wheels and I certainly don't need a higher smugness level
