Was thinking of getting a 1"-2" body lift for now til I can save some money and buy a LEGIT flex suspension lift kit, what do u guys think? does it affect handling negatively or any other suspension components?

Nope it just lifts the body off the frame a little for tire clearance.
If you do that might as well consider a MML (Motor Mount Lift) to help with future driveline issuse with future lift. That and they both go hand in hand together.

If no MML you'll have to adjust the fan shroud height since the fan blades would hit it

Body lifts are ok, to much of one can look like crap. U have to also watch ur wiring when u do a major body lift (anything over 2" imo). Some times the wiring will stretch out from the body lift witch could lead to rubbing of the wires on something they have been pulled tight against or other problems.

If you are on a budget and you want a little boost for sure i would go with the 1.25" Body lift and 1" motor mount lift. And its pretty easy to install and cheap as well. All you would need is a few wrenchs and sockets, a good solid flat place to work and a good solid jack and some blocks. The one tool i had to buy was an electric impact for the body bolts. But i picked mine up for about 60 bucks the impact gun that is.

I've never been a fan of body lifts. You can find 1-3/4 to 3" lifts good prices online. Rugged Ridge and Daystar make affordable ones under $300.00

You can buy body lifts for $100. They are all the same plastic pucks. Make sure you get grade 5 or 8 hardware.

Get a 2" BB instead.

BB=Budget Boost-2" coil spring spacers you put on top of the coil springs to gain 2" of suspension lift.

a small body lift (less that 2") is an effective way to add tire clearance. it raises the body off the frame, so most of the weight stays low, which is a good thing. They are good on there own for a bit of clearance or to add a little extra clearance to a suspension lift. As previous posters pointed out, a MML is worthwhile as well.

So long as you go with nothing taller than 1", there's nothing wrong with a body lift. There is no need to install a set of 1" taller motor mounts to go with it though. Some do but it's not necessary.

I have a 2" BL on mine. The kit comes with the hardware to lower the fan shroud. It takes about 2-3 Hrs. to complete everything by one's self. Very easy. Just read the directions before doing it. Make sure you are aware of and know everything you will be doing.

Go with the 2" coil spacers and a 1.25" body lift, that will give you a taller more aggressive look and not break the bank. As for the MML, you can do that or just custom up a trasnfer case drop with some grade 5 or 8 bolts, nuts and washers.

or just wait it out and save up for a real 3-4 inch suspension lift, you will be much happier with that in the long run.

hmmm sounds like i might go with a 2" coil spring spacer, like i said this is just a temporary thing till i can save up (prolly around 3-4 months) and buy a lift kit, SYE, CV/DS and gears and tires.

So if your going to get a lift in 3-4 months WHY spend the money now on the 2"BB. Keep your money and just put it towards the lift kit...

I would agree if you really are 3-4 months away from a real lift then wait, but be realistic about your timetable. Most people say they are 3-4 months away and it turns into over a year. If you do the BB you can use your stock shocks.

i wanna lift it soooon, i wanna either do a 2" BB (then most likely more than 4 months later ill get a RE or teraflex kit) or anyone know if the zone 4" lift kit is good?

i have a 2in body lift on top of a 4in susp lift and i cant get it into 4lo any more? i bought it like this and i wasnt sure if there is an extension rod for the 4WD linkage??? does any one have any input on this? i figure since we are talking about body lifts that might be something to watch for.... well that is, if its my problem! if it isnt ill start a new post! lol.... thanks!

Do you have a t-case drop or a mml lift or anything?

The problem is the difference in height between the body and the transfer case, the body is now 2" taller than the t-case. That's a problem because the t-case shifter linkage mounting bracket is mounted to the t-case on one side and the body on the other, so the t-case linkage is no longer level... it is 2" higher on one side than the other so it is binding.

There are some t-case bracket kits that can help, Skyjacker has something I think, but I'd get rid of the 2" body lift either entirely or cut it down to 1". Most shifters seem to work fine with only a 1" body lift which both of my TJs had. 2" of body lift is too high anyway, I never recommend more than 1".

thanx... thats what i kind of figured... i was curious to see if the made a loger rod or a different bracket! i def wont take the 2in body lift off! i like it and yes there is a transfer case drop, so adding those two together i guess thats why i cant get it in 4 low! .... ill find the right rod or bracket to get it fixed!.... well i hope! So m3 if you go with a 2in make sure you find out if you need that extension for you 4wd! i think i do because if the t-case drop! wich i assume is on there because of the 4in sus lift!
