Hi all, newbie here. First off, I just wanted to say this is a great forum. I'm new to the Jeep thing and have learned soo much here in the last couple of weeks. Anyway, the problem I'm having is a clicking noise coming from the dash behind the instrument cluster. It doesn't seem to have a pattern or 'rhyme or reason' when it happens. It sounds to me like the turn signal flasher, but the turn signal is not on nor does the indicator lights flash when noise is happening. It seems to do it more when I first start it and seems to quit after driving around a little. I was just out in the garage playing with the radio and the key was on, but the motor was not. It did it quite a bit during this time. Sometimes it is a fast click, other times a slow click. Any clue as to what this may be? I did a search but didn't really find anything.

Sounds like maybe relay chatter? Notice anything not working or working sporadically?

Is there something in the blower?
Does it stop when you turn the blower off?

The blower is off. It sounds exactly like the turn signal flasher. It seems to be directly behind the guage cluster. I haven't found anything not working.

7. My turn signal makes the ticking noise without the turn switch activated.

This is typically preceded by having your top off in the rain. This is NOT a turn signal module problem, and replacing it will not solve the problem. Waiting for the vehicle to dry out will fix the problem. A more proactive approach is to remove the turn signal module, spray the socket out with WD-40, and allow it to dry. Replace the turn signal module and insulate it with electrical tape, or some type of boot between the module and the socket.

Might wanna try the bold part and see if moisture was the problem...whether you left your top off or if it may have leaked in via other methods.

Ah, sounds logical. As far as the top being off, I've only owned the Jeep for about 1 month and it hasen't been off as of yet. BUT, the noise was much worse after I washed the vehicle the other day. I wasn't even thinking about a water issue. Maybe there is a small amount getting in that area somehow. I will try this and see if it helps. Thanks for the info!

No prob...hope it helps. I came across that purely by accident while searching for how turn signals work so I could see if the flasher could possibly be clicking without triggering the lights.

I've had the clicking in/out sound since buying "Silver" brand new. It seems to be inherent with her. Nothing is out of place so no biggie.

yeah, jeeps make noises, best way of getting rid of most of them is a loud stereo. +1 on the flasher tho, its pretty well known to do that, also pretty well known to be ignored. does the heep have any sort of aftermaket alarm on it?

its from getting wet, it happens every time i get rained on so like 350chev ^^^ said i crank the stereo

I have the same issue as the poster, I also had an aftermarket alarm but I have removed it. What does the alarm have to do with this? I still get the periodic flasher clicking noise and I believe it has to do with moisture personlly. Should I remove all of the wiring from that old alarm?
