Crankshaft Angle Sensor

On my 2000 Wrangler 4.0L the crankshaft angle sensor is located near the oil filter and I am wondering if this sits flush against the block or does it sit up just alittle bit. I can look down the hole and see where the sensor sits and it sounds like it drops into place but there is alittle gap from the block to the little flange on the sensor. There is a tab with a 13mm bolt that holds it in place. Please Help!!!

Got a picture of what you are looking at specifically?

You mean the Crankshaft Position Sensor? It should be on the back of the motor block on the transmission bell housing.

The only sensor I can think of that is close to the oil filter is the oil pressure sender.

I attached a picture of the sensor. This is what I found it being called on Rock Auto website.

The camshaft position sensor is inside that housing.

^ X2 - CAMshaft position sensor. Entirely different beast.

Does that look right? Is there supposed to be a gap between the block and the flange on the sensor. Sorry I must have read it wrong, Camshaft Angle Sensor.
