Differential Rebuild Question

Ok, so I am having a well known 4WD store rebuild my rear diff due to ring and pinion slop and howling. I was told my cross pin was worn as well and they are ordering the part from another of their warehouses. Ok, no problem on that. My question is they are charging me another additional hour or so ($100) to install the "new" cross pin?

I am not the most mechanical but don't you have to take this part out anyway to rebuild the rear diff when doing new R&P and bearings?

So far I am not pleased at all with the service of this "National Chain".

Thoughts are appreciated.

No, on your axle you don't need to pull the cross pin to change ring and pinions. It doesn't take an hour to change it but most shops charge by the hour so that sounds about right.

Not really getting hosed. Just out of curiosity, how much are they charging for the labor total?
