When i take the doors and top off my jeep, the dome lights are always on. But i had bought these tweeser like things to go on the button where the door hits when it is shut so the lights go off. But my when i put them on each side, the right doors side doesnt work. With them both on, the dome lights will still stay on and its very annoying . Its the right side that causes this.

On my 99 there is a fuse you pull to disable the door lights. Check the owners manual. It's an easy fix, I just don't remember the fuse #.

you can always pull fuse #4 but that also disables the warning chime.

The one thats labeled #4 behind the glove box. If it doesn't say it on the fuse panel look for the diagram in the owners manual.

Yep, pull fuse #4 behind the glove box to disable the door switches. You will still be able to turn the interior lights on with the dashlight dimmer control as normal. Jeep specifically designed fuse #4 for use for when the doors are off.

That it also disables that stupid incessant reminder chime is icing on the cake.

I have tube doors for the summer and what I did was install a bypass switch. It goes in place of the fuse and only takes minutes to install. You can get it at Quadratec. Here's the link

Can't you just click the button on the dome light to turn it off completely? Or is it the beaping noise you're wanting to get rid of?

Unfortunately, I wish it would still remind you when you leave your headlights on, that's got me a few times.

I pop out both switches and just unplug the wires.

Why do that when it takes ten seconds to just pull the #4 fuse behind the glove box that was designed to be pulled for this exact reason???

My fuse is in so tight and my glove box is so full it's actually considerably easier/faster to just pop my switches out and unplug/plug in the wires. I broke the little clips off the harnesses that connect to the switches so they pop on/off with little effort but still hold on tight enough that they won't rattle loose.

Unfortunately that still doesn't give me my warning chime back since that's all wired to the driver's side door switch...but ah well. lol

Wouldn't it be possible to just pull the bulb? Will the warning chime still work then?

I have a 98 wrangler and am having the same issue. I have narrowed it down to a short in the steering column when you put the tilt wheel all the way up. You can wiggle the steering wheel while in this position and make the dome lights flicker. It has to be a pinched wire. I will tear into it this weekend and post what I find.
