| Frame, some rust and painting it?
Greetings!
Proud TJ owner(2002) here.
Here's a little background on it and what I would like to do. For the past few yrs, I was living in Virginia, about 1/2 hr west of Virginia Beach. Needless to say, it hasn't encountered snow or salty roads for some time now. Currently, I am living in Western PA, Beaver County and the winters can suck! While changing out my broken stabilizer links, another story for another time, I noticed the rust accumilating. Not anything bad, but enough to prompt me to think about sanding/grinding it down and painting it with rustoleum or whatever it is called. I want to preserve what I have so my daughter can get it when she is able to drive. I have heard from various people, non-jeepers, but I want fellow owners to advise me on whether or not it is necessary to do those things(sand/grind/paint)? Thanks for any and all suggestions!

Do a quick search here on a product called POR-15. If you're going to do it, do it right. Welcome.
Go Browns! ...
... man, it's getting embarassing to keep saying that ...

1st determine if its just surface rust or if its deeper. Use a scraper and see what you have. Por-15 is very good as stated. PA can be hard on any frame, my 2000 came from there and had lots of surface rust and I had to take care of.. on the other side my 97 came from TX and looks brand new.

Thank you!
I have read up on that stuff and thought about purchasing a can. From what I gather, that is the stuff to use.
I don't hate the Browns! Actually, most people assume I would be a Stillers fan, but contrary to popular belief, I am an EAGLES fan! Just so happened that when my wife seperated from Active Duty, we moved back to her home record of station. Its not easy being an EAGLES fan in Steeler country!

well i got under mine and saw some surface rust so I took a wire brush and got some rust of and sprayed it with undercoating spray from walmart, its not the best but it looks better and protects it a little, I plan on reduing it in a few months!!!
