Gatorback on fender flares

For what it's worth. The other day I read about using Gatorback in a fender flare post. I didn't know what it was. Turns out it's the stuff GM puts on the faded plastic parts of the Avalanche truck, etc. I emailed Gatorblack to see if would work well on faded Jeep fender flares. The Tech service guy emailed me back today and said he used it on Jeep flares three years ago and it has held up well. The company recommends professional application but I saw they now offer aerosol cans.

Naturally, I did all of this before my rear axle disaster. So now fender flares are the least of my problems. Anyway, Gatorback may be something to consider.

I can't. I haven't used it. The other day someone on the forum named it as something you could use. I'd never heard of it so I googled it. I'll probably give it a shot. Here's a link to their site. Welcome to GatorBack: Home of Automot...ation Products

Did you get the aerosol cans or will you spray with a paint gun? I'd probably rather use aerosol than clean up a gun if everything else is the same. In the meantime though I have to deal with my blown out rear axle.

aerosol cans.

Since I don't have it on my TJ yet, I'll show you how it looks on my Avalanche.

With some sun reflection... it shines but not obnoxiously

That looks great. According to Gatorback it will look just as good on my 2000 TJ. The Tech guy said it adheres very well to the type of plastic used by Chrysler. I gotta try it after seeing that Avalanche.

I'll just say that I have 2 cans that will easily cover my back tonneau, saddle bags, and even the cladding on the tailgate. So I'm thinking 1 can would do the flares easily. Having a second one gives you the option for touchups along the way. I'm SERIOUSLY tempted to use the second can to do my dash and interior doors.

If I could find a good representation of the fading my deck had before it was done, I'd show ya. It was kinda zebra'd/streaked and about as light (or lighter) than my flares currently are.

It is my plan to get it done over the winter. I just have not had the time between work and school.

Online is pretty much it. You MAY be able to get it through your GM/Chevy dealer. Their website may list local resellers though. I got mine directly through them.
