Default Got my Wrangler!!...check engine light on?

bought my 06 Wrangler Friday night! Love it already! Red/black soft top.

Took it out Saturday and put gas in it, then drove it home. Didn't drive it at all Sunday. On the way to work this morning, the engine light came on

I'm thinking that maybe the hubby didn't put the gas cap on just right and tripped it, at least that's what I'm hoping. Had it happen before in 2 other Dodges we owned.

Jeep's only got about 80 miles on it(the dealer had to go get it from another dealer) so I really, really hope it's nothing serious.

Well congratulations. Check the gas cap as you mentioned, and then if the light is still on, take it back to the dealership that you bought it at. I know its a hassle, but take advantage of your warranties while you have them. I am envious of that new Jeep smell you must still have........lol.

oh yeah, the new Jeep smell, nothing like it.....lol

Now, if I can just figure out how to get the top off! Suppose to be in the 80/90 degree range later this week, so I'll take a try at it then

Pop the two front latches, remove top from door channels, zip out side windows, unzip sides of back window, fold top down. Enjoy the breeze.

Best of luck with the new Jeep, please Wave. Defintely take it the dealer you bought it at so there is records of it. Even if the light goes out on it's own, they can still check the computer memory. My story.... Light goes on, get new gas cap, they say "everythings fine". While later light on, new cap, pressure check, they say "everythings fine", Last time light goes on, I say this is your third strike, I will have to call and complain to higher ups, They replace some emission box valve thing under hood and another new cap, finally got it right, so far. That's why I have paper work, I don't trust dealers... Good Luck.....

Thumbs up Update on engine light..........

Well, my Jeep must have been built on a Friday afternoon or a Monday morning..................some MORON forgot to install a thermostat!!!! Yes you read that right!

I mentioned it to the hubby on Saturday that it was odd that the 4.0 didn't heat up like my 3.7 did. He looked over at the temp gauge and said it looked like an awfully low reading.

I hope they didn't forget anything else!

And I've already been getting waves from fellow Jeepers! If I see them in time, I wave back

That gas cap will sure get ya. My brand new truck my company bought me has that engine light come on every now and then after a fill up. it'll usually go out after I let it sit a little while.

Keep us posted.
