Heater/fan only blows through the defrost vents. ???

So not really jeep savvy yet and trying to figure out why when I cycle through all the heater options i.e. (defrost, upper dash, feet) I only get air coming out of the defrost vents....and of course in the off position everything is off. I checked the fuses, and was at a loss after that. Is this a common issue? hard or easy fix?

Thanks

You have a vacuum leak. One of your small black vacuum hoses has either broken or come loose under the hood. Your vent position is normally resting at the defrost position. when you start the engine, vacuum moves the air flap to the selected position and holds it there by vacuum. Check under hood first. Trace the lines. Then go under dash and check.

Had same problem with my 02 and fixed it yesterday by following advise from chucky cheese and others in other posts. Found the vacuum line had come loose because the end cracked. I put some electrical tape around the end of the hose so it would hold its shape and I put it on the nipple and everything works fine now. I will go back and put a new rubber end on the hose the next time it pops out. Thanks chucky cheese!!

Pop the hood.
Take a look at the vacuum lines going to the intake manifold.
When you locate that pesty COMMON vacuum line that pops off or cracks you'll be good.
