HELP!!! Shaking when starting out
I have a 97 5 speed. When I am at a dead stop and ease off the clutch in 1st gear I am getting a strong vibration especially under my ( driver side ) floor board. It does not happen in any other gears. Just easing into 1st! What can this be... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Do you mean when you're accelerating? Do you have a lift? Do you have an SYE?

Not trying to hijack your thread, but I have the same problem. Does anyone have a pick on an installed SYE?

Give us a little help on the vibration and how tall your suspension lift is. Does the vibration feel like it's coming from the clutch? Rear axle area? Is the vibe something you feel up through your seat? Could it be from the rear axle area or is it more from the front?

I have a 4 inch RC lift with 33 inch bf m/t. The I ration almost feels like when u let the rpms fall to low and the car shakes... I feel like the whole jeep shakes but I deft feel something under my floor board while I am driving... Ok so the. Ad is in neutral, I step on the clutch and then put it into 1st and let it out slow, not right away but right around when the clutch is fully let out and a little after I get the vibration that shakes the whole jeep... It only happens in 1st and I have tried all different RPMS.

Had a similar problem which was amplified wile teaching my son to drive a standard.
I changed out the transmission mount and the problem disappeared.

Can you shift your t case? I am Willing to bet money that it's your 4 wheel drive t case linkage. Jump under your jeep and make sure this little nipple thing didn't pop out. You should just be able to pop it back in. Had this same problem a couple times and then I just switch to Novak and now it's perfect

2nd on the transmission mount. Had the same problem. It was almost like tire hop on a hot rod. It's the transmission moving. A new mount should fix it. HTH

Where to buy? How much? Easy to install or get the shop to do it?

It's not a bad job but it can be a dirty one. Most regular auto parts stores can get them or online at Advance Auto or similar. It's is a little tough as the mount is on top of the skid plate between the trans. you have to lightly jack the trans to take weight off the mount and loosen the bolts. 4 into the trans and 4 into the skid plate. There is an offset bracket that is part of the assembly. It took me longer to clean off the crap than to do the actual replacement.

I have these same symptoms in my 97TJ. It has a 2 inch lift. I was told the output shaft was bent. If that was true wouldn't there be fluid leaking from the seal? I think I am going to replace my mount first. Sure would be a much cheaper fix!

I've had the same thing for years. It only happens when my Jeep is hot. I have replaced motor/tranny mounts 4-5 times in twelve years . The hard plastic mounts crack, and fall apart sooner than the rubber ones wear out, in my experience.

Mine did the same and it was the tranny mount too! The stock mounts start to rot and u can't even tell. One side of mine was shot and the other side was barely hanging on allowing the tranny to move

I have been told that the motor mounts cause the transmission mount to go. 1st to go is the drivers side motor mount, then the passenger side, then the transmission mount. I don't know if it is true but.....

for a slightly different angle...
Its also possible that its a fuel pressure issue. Mine was doing the same thing and it went away with my recent fuel pump replacement. A few other symptoms of a fuel problem would be random hesitation and slow starts.
