Default Jeep Wrecked..New Tires???

What's up Jeep family? I haven't been on in awhile. But earlier this week I was in a wreck with my stock 2005 Wrangler X. The other guy's insurance is covering everything. Now I'm not talking about insurance fraud. But the bodyshop told me the tires that were on my Jeep aren't made anymore.

So I'm looking for a good road tire that has the off road look, also I suppose the biggest size I can put on a stock suspension? I'm open to all suggestions...

Is it just a daily driver? Either the BFG AT or goodyear duratrac would be my pick. And you can get 31x10.50x15.

Yes it's a daily car, that I want to have more of an aggressive look. Are 31's the way to go? Or should I be looking at spacers and and or a lift?

go with the duratrac. i have them in 31X10.50 and no issues at all. i had them when the jeep was completely stock too.

these are the best tires that i have ever ran before, personally i think they are almost unstoppable, snow, ice, sloppy mud, thick mud, ive had to climb some rocks on a washed out road the other day. i have about 10,000 miles on mine so far.

I'm having the same question: Due for new tires on my stock TJ, want to buy wheels and tires and be able to use the same aftermarket wheels when I lift it and re-gear my axles etc. So I'm wondering what size wheel to get and what is the biggest tire I can fit stock?

15x8 would be a good size.If you just get 4" of backspacing, you'll be golden for any new tires. I have seen a stock jeep with 33's, but it looked like it couldn't even go down a flat road without rubbing. 31's are good for stock height.

i just put on some yokohama geolanders and they are exceptional on the road, but definitly not as good as my old BFG AT's off road. if you are looking for a good road tire that is good looking, definitly check out the geolanders

I just bought General Grabber at2 31x10.50x15. So far I am pleased they rated well for snow rain and ice and I believe a heck of a tire for the price just my two cents!!! By the way on stock suspension with no problem!!

Go with the new MTR They are a great all around tire. They will last a while on the road and will get you down the trail. You can fit 31's with no problem on a stock jeep.

Well I'm getting the body shop to look into some 31's to see if we can get a deal. I can't wait to get my Jeep back. They've got me in a Chevy Cobalt and it's...well it's not a Jeep is the best thing I can say about it.

I've been in the Broke Phi Broke fraternity since 98

why dont ya put on some sort of spring spacers or something cheap like that so you can go up to al least a 33". solve some rubbing problems you might have with 31's on stock, and it wont look like stock either.

No-one else suggested any spacers or anything. I'm not sure if the body shop would put those on for me, seeing how that is more of a modification than a fix or replacement. They probably don't want to put something like that on there and still offer a guarantee.

But I am interested in it. Is it safe? 33's are pretty big, my sister has them on her 01 Sahara but she also has like a 3 in lift. I always assumed if you were getting 33's you'll need a lift instead of spacers, just "to do it right." But wouldn't 33's tear up my fenders?

yeah it is more of a mod, but my 2" skyjacker spacer only cost around an extra 250, and is will still keep the ride quality of a stock suspension. 33's are big but i have 32's and they look really good IMO. Its not aggressive looking at all, but it is heads and tails compered to the stock look. And instillation is very easy, i am only 19 and i was able to do it in only 3-4 hours, so you dont have to pay someone to do it for you.

and my 32's have never came close to rubbing my stock fenders on/off road. you should not have any rubbing problems if you stay 33 or below w/ the spacers. the spacers are actually rated for up to 33's if im not mistaken. and it just as safe as stock.
