And here goes... i played with the idea of replacing my motor when i realized, for the tires i had, gear set up, i didnt have very much power for pulling my boat and 4 wheelers. I had 37in tires, 7in lift, with 4.46 gears. I had descent gas mileage but no power past 2nd gear, so it took me a while to get up to speed with a small load. I began to research chevy engines conversion in a jeep. First title popped up on internet was ls conversions. i then began to research this and noticed that the aftermarket world was very supportive in this set up. So i decided to look up different ls motors. My original plans was the ls2 but after reading a bit more, i came upon the ls3 430hp with 400ft/lbs. i figured this was the way to go. After realizing for a couple more hundred bucks, i could have the ls3 376/480, which is a 376 cu/in engine with 480hp . The idea of even more power (GM hot cam) turned me on to it. So i decided on this set up .
after getting the motor ordered from GM performance, i called novak to discuss conversion options. After the agreement of which conversion was to be used. I started ordering parts, and here was the first box that arrived
very comfortable seats but a little pricey.. im gonna sale these at a later date to get the leather seats... i hate sitting on wet seats when it decides to rain!!!:banghead:
you dont have to buy it but it eliminates the headache of wiring and tunning from an old, used harness. i bought the harness, engine and ecm from gm all brand new. this set up can be had for a lot cheaper but i decided to go NEW= WARRANTY
1. ENGINE 6200.00
2. Harness 800.00
3. ecm 900.00
4. Corvette front drive accessory's 900.00
note: i built this around the corvette accessory drive. this was a time consuming decision because i had to rebuild steering system because the steering shaft would hit the power steering pump pulley. most builders use a truck water pump and truck accessory drive system
I see.. well im jealous of your engine! Im would have to save for the next 10 years till i was 30 to afford even the engine! Lol. Looking forward to seeing it in the rig.
Nice seats. I want the fixed back suspension seats.
