Popped the hood open to check the oil today and noticed the valve cover was different. Pictures below....

The following are pics of the paint on my Jeep. When I received the jeep, it had some oldschool 90's graphics on it, which I removed. This is the outcome. The passengers side only has this defect on the hood. The drivers side has this defect running from the hood, all the way to the rear of my Jeep. I was thinking of using 600 grit sandpaper and wetsanding it down. Any help with any of these problems would be greatly appreciated. Thanks !

some wetsanding should be able to take care of that paint issue

PCV valve. Can try replacing valve and rubber gasket....may/may not leak. its common on many makes/models.

If you're good with a polisher, you could also get rid of it that way. personally I'd use a higher grit than 600...but I'm "nervous" about wrecking my paint.

May be worth the expense and take it in and have it buffed out and waxed. A good shop will clean that right up. If you don't have a lot of experience with a buffer, you can really cut up your paint.

I have replaced my PVC valve and grommet before and it always seems to seep some oil around that grommet. Think its just one of those "jeep" things. Good news is your valve cover wont rust

Some vehicles just have a leaky PCV valve. When a lot of oil builds up I would a) replace the PCV valve and b) take off the intake at the throttle body and inspect the intake for oil or oil residue, clean with carb/tb cleaner if needed.

If it continues to be a problem, you could install an oil catch can... That will need periodic removal and emptying but it keeps oil from pooling in the intake and or clogging the PCV valve.

Keep in mind that the PCV valve traps unburned hydrocarbon vapor and recycles it into the intake, along with this there can be a bit of oil in the blowby gas as well. It can leak without anything actually being wrong, especially if there's been a change in weather or humidity that can cause the seals to shrink or swell.

I'm on my iPhone so I can't see the pic very well... so the best thing I would tell you to would take off the intake and inspect it for oil.

Also remember that it may look like a lot of oil, but even a cap full of oil on the ground or a valve cover can look like someone spilled a jug of it.

Oh, and for the paint, I would use 1500-2000 grit sandpaper on a wetsand and then buff it.
