Problem with gear shift after lift
I put a 4 inch skyjacker lift with a transfer case drop. The shifter hits the boot frame on the console when I put it into reverse. I was wondering if anyone knows how to solve the problem or has any ideas.

I just finished my 4" skyjacker with the t-case drop and have the same problem only worse. 2nd 4th and reverse try to pop out and 4wd only works in the N position. I put in the bracket for the 4wd but it didnt seem to help. Sorry for the hijack but hope someone has input.

issue is with the stiff rubber shift boot..leather shift boot may solve your problem.

I had the same problem. I cut the console and ruined it and had to get a new one. Two fixes: Get the 05+ TJ Leather shifter boot, smaller and allows movement.. Solved my problem for a while. Get the SYE/DS/ADJ Uppers, permanent fix. It will move the shifter back to the stock location. Do not heat the shifter and bend it forward.

Mine was popping out of 2nd and reverse after installing my lift. I ended up moving the whole center console back a couple of inches and screwed it back down. Mine was caused from my shifter boot being to tight when in gear. Pop your shifter boot loose and drive around a bit and see if that helps. If it does just move your console back a bit.

What about the shifter extension? Seen one on ebay like a 2" piece maybe that would work only like 10 bucks. Im in the same boat as well.

I swapped boots with my dads tj and it works great. His plastic surround was broken so it was just the rubber. It was a win win i got a working boot without breaking/modding mine and he got a working one.

Mine did the same thing, popped out of 2nd gear every once and a while and wore a hole in the leather shift boot. I finally got rid of the t/c drop and went with the sye/ds. Now its back to normal with lots of clearance between the shifter and console.

Like I said, getting the sye/ds is the only way to fix it right.

if you look at the bracket you have two sets of holes. the bottom set is for the 4 inch left. the first time I installed it I put it in backwards, and the 4wd would not shift and I had to adjust the linkage
