Arrow sensors/emissions and what it all does

I've decided to make a list of all the computer's sensors and emission's stuff and what it all does.

MAP OR MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE-This sensor reads the pressure in side the intake manifold. The computer then uses this info to calculate air density and determine the air mass flow rate. Then it uses that to determine the correct fuel flow needed.

MAF OR MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR-This sensor tells the computer the mass of the air entering the engine and the computer uses that info to deliver the correct fuel mass to the engine.

IAT OR INTAKE AIR TEMP SENSOR-This sensor reads the incoming air temp. The computer uses this information to calculate the proper injector pulse width and spark advance.

CTS OR COOLENT TEMP SENSOR-This reads the coolent temp and sends that info to the computer.

TPS OR THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR-This sensor tells the computer where the throttle is located. It does this by changing it's resistance. The computer uses this info to change ignition and fuel timing.

KNOCK SENSOR-This sensor is mounted on the block and listens for any knocks or pings. If the computer detects any pings or knocks it will retard the timing to try to correct the problem.

IAC OR IDLE AIR CONTROL-This device regulates the amount of air let into the engine during idle. This allows the computer to control the idle rpms.

o2 SENSOR OR OXYGEN SENSOR-This sensor reads the oxygen level in the exhaust gases. This info is what sets the correct air/fuel mix for the motor. The use of these sensors helps reduce emissions. It also improves fuel millage. There are normally 2 of these sensors. There is a upstream in the exhaust manifold. This one sets the correct air/fuel mix. Then there is the down stream sensor. It's located behind the cat and is looking to see if the cat is doing it's job.

I thought that maybe this could be a sticky and could help people learn a little of what all these do. 90% of this is right from my head so there may be 1 or 2 mistakes. I'm going to add alot more to this later on.

Jeep Profile
Useful info (I'm kind of new here so I've just discovered it)!
Where are they located? That'll be useful, too.
