Skyjacker Hydro/Pro Comp ES3000 same shock?

I was told today by a custom jeep building shop that has a location near me that these shocks are both made by Monroe and come off the same assembly line. They are identical. He used to work for Rancho and said the Rancho 5000 is also made by Monroe and is the same. He has always shot straight with me and they build about 1000 custom jeeps a year in their 5 or so shops around the country. There are a ton of posts on this forum and Jeepforum.com that trash the Pro-Comps and praise the Skyjacker. How is that possible if they are identical? What gives?

They all probably do come from Monroe but there are differences between them all, just like Jeep makes different variations among Wranglers that are on the same assembly line.

The Rancho 5000 and ProComp ride pretty much the same, extremely stiffly when mounted on a Wrangler, but the Rancho is finished better with better paint and heavier chrome plating on the strut than the ProComp ES3000 has. The Skyjacker is valved less aggressively than either of the other two and because of that, has a much better ride on a Wrangler. I'm not sure how its finish & strut chrome compares to the other two though.

They certainly are not identical however.
