Spare Tire Departure Angle

Hey all,

I have a 32'' spare tire one the stock tire carrier all the weight sits on top of my aftermarket bumper and there is no wobble what so ever.

i guess my question is will i ever hit the tire off road.

i tend to wheel alot of wooded trails and there are some muddy ledges etc i would drop down or go up and i am worried i might drag the tire on the ground damaging my tailgate etc....

is there anyone out there that has done this??

also is there any way to raise it up on a budget....i can buy a different rear bumper with a tire carrier but dont want to fork over that kinda money. does the best top tire carrier work better? or should i just not worry about it.

what if i run a 1 in drop hitch flipped over to protect the rest of the bottom edge of the tire? is that a good idea?

There you go, thats the video i was referring to.

If he had a glass rear window (hard top) it would have been history.
