Speaker plates....
i have done some searching, but I wanted to get opinions on what brackets are best to get. last thing I want to do is order the wrong product...
So I currently have 5.25's in my sound bar, and 4x6's in the dash.
i just upgraded the 5.25's in the soundbar.. But REALLY would like to get some 6.5's in there, and move the new 5.25's to the dash..
So what plates have you guys & gals had best results with?
I called a local shop, but Im afraid they are going to try and bend me over on anything they have to do..
Thanks!

I have run these in my three TJs from car-speaker-adapters.com
Car-Speaker-Adapters - www.car-speaker-adapters.com - Call Us Today - 412-260-6835
They come to about $18 with shipping.
For that cost, being as perfect as they are made, it's not worth trying to source the material and get the measurements just right to make my own. I have NO problem making my own stuff, but some things are just not worth the time. Not to mention, I would expect to pay at least half of that in local materials to make them myself.

Agreed TXS...
Those are perfect for the dash.. Shame they dont make them for the 5.25 to 6.5.
Looks like a great product. Ill order these for the front speakers now.

Look at www. Nalinmfg.com he's a forum member and makes a great product at a most reasonable price, ships next day...
You don't need adapters for the sound bar, most 6.5" bolt right in...

Good news
Ill chek out Nalin's product also, and just move the new 5.25's to the dash and look for some new 6.5's to put in the sound bar, glad to know they will bolt right in.
This might spawn a whole new post, or topic but...
if I have 4 way 5.25 speakers int he dash, that will handle the the highs and mids.. so should I look for a 6.5 woofer or 2 way speaker to carry the bass? like one of the 6.5 component sets?
I'm not looking to install a sub and box, and dont really want "heavy bass" So I think this combo will fit my needs..
Edit...
well, I went ahead and ordered some 6.5's from Amazon..
Went with these..
Pioneer TS-G1643R 6.5-Inch 2-Way Speakers
Seemed to get good reviews, and picked them up for $35..

These adapters are the ones that I used as well. Great product. Mine came with fasteners too.

If you are going to go with nalinmfg, hurry. He'll be gone for about a month serving starting 7 July.

i just purchased the metal nalin brand on their web site, thanks for the tip ! So I can take the 5.25 in out of my roll bar now, slap them in the dash, and just buy 6.25 for the roll bar? Are you sure they will fit? I'm no bob villa, if i drill holes, i will break drill bits/ hurt myself...

The 6.5 will fit. You might have to make new holes for the screws, not a big deal. I would put 6.5 seperates up top or at the least a 2 way speaker to add some bass. trust me you dont want a 3 or 4 way speaker that close to your ears.

these
Polk Audio AA2651-A MM651
look really bad a** ? 100 watts rms 200 watts max? marine certified? i only want to do this once, so i want some good ones. I have a power acoustic 1200/4 amp ( 100x4 channel) it's very clear, but needs some decent speakers. . it's killing the pioneer 140 watt 5.25 in i have in the roll bar now. the kicker 4x6 in the dash are struggling i can tell ! good speakers, but with this amp, i need more. So i just bought the adapters from nalin, i am taking the pioneer 5.25 out of roll bar and putting them in dash.

gonna be a nice set up. I have infinity 6.5 2 ways up top and JL audio 5.25 in the dash with an Eclipse 4ch powering them all. clear as the recording studio. I really could use a better deck but I get scared of it being stolen so I put a crap deck in for the time.

Your amp doesnt need decent speakers. The stock speakers in most vehicles are probably the BEST part of your system. I have run a few REALLY nice systems in my vehicles. Amping the stock speakers works great. I only replace speakers when Ive blown them, which takes awhile. You'd be better served using that amp's front 2 channels to power the entire speaker set up in jeep, and rear 2 channels bridged for a sub.

turtles tj is right though, my front 2 channels would be enough for the 4 factory speaker points, then i could have a sub without buying another amp...good idea turtles

Those tweeters look like a waste of money to me. If you want something like that then get a pair of separates for up top and put the tweeters on the A pillar with some dbl sided tape. will have the same effect and wont put unnecessary strain on your system.

This thread has got me looking around myself...
Would these Polk Audio DB521 in the dash,
go well with these Polk Audio DB651s in the sound bar?
Or do I need to get something to offset the coaxials in the soundbar?
I really don't want to amp / sub my Jeep, just get cleaner sound. My stock speakers are suffering, I have them hooked up to a KDC-MP745U
Thanks for any suggestions, folks

Polk is one of my fav brands for a jeep, They are made of tough materials and most (even if not specified) are marine grade. On top of that they sound great! best way to see what fits your style is to go listen to a few sets at local retailers. Best buy will have a good setup to listen to them, most of your mom & pop shops will only have their display speakers set up on an amplifier.

Polk Audio DXi 5.25" in the dash with DXi 6.5" in the sound bar. Straight forward installation... need to cut out a dash support on each side to make room for the 5.25" and new mounting holes in the sound bar for the 6.5".
The sound quality and clarity is so much better than the 4"x6" and 5.25" Sony Xplods that these replaced.

When did you put these in? I only see them being sold as used on Ebay

Polk DXi...
About a month ago... purchased on eBay, they were supposedly new open box returns. Appeared to be just as described.
I can't find the adapter plates online anymore, Amazon says "currently not available". I chose them over the flat plates because they dirrect the speaker up into the cab instead of towards the floor.

Sandro, I have the unlimited, so there really is still quite a bit of space in the back, so I am lucky, not to mention that this tube is not that big. It fits nicely and it sounds awesome, even at highway speeds. Biggest part was wiring the power to it and mounting the fuse. I was able to hide the power, r/c and remote on wires in the lip right under the passenger side door and take it under the carpet and to the tub and then come out from under the side/bottom carpet to the amp. It is nice and neat.

if you're going to go Polk 6.5s, I'd stay away from these:
Amazon.com: Polk Audio DB651 6.5-Inch Coaxial Speakers (Pair, Silver): Electronics
as I addressed on another thread, they're not up to off-roading

They just aren't designed for the jostling they take up there. just my experience.
my in-dash polks are fine.
for the rears I am now fabbing the soundbar to accept a set of old (but brand-new in box) cerwin-vega 6x9s.
