Speakers for Soundbar
I know you can put 6.5" speakers in the TJ soundbar. I plan on doing it but I don't want to modify. What models fit the factory bolt in? Thanks.

+1 on the 6.5" Alpines. I just had to drill new screw holes, the 6.5 fit right in the 5.25 speaker hole.
The Alpines I bought are a componet set, I also drilled holes for separate tweeters.

There are some brands that don't I've heard, so it's good that the op asked

Polk 6.5 fit, I just re drilled the holes. There is an adapter plate to use to line up holes, just quicker to re drill them.

I think these should fit. I can just screw them in to new holes but it's the modification of the bar that I don't want to do.

For the soundbar? No adapter needed. And screwing new holes is nothing major. Just insert speaker and use self threading screws, done

I found some German made speakers on eBay for about 45 bucks, they are high quality and sound great, best of all they fit right in no drilling. now the dash speakers are another story,I found some high quality speakers on eBay,but they required extensive sheet metal work making brackets to fit the dash and then mounting the speakers to them. good luck (it ain't easy) but if it were it wouldn't be a Jeep and the high satisfaction level wouldn't be there when it works

Yes. A drill would work, but I just used a screwdriver and some good ol' elbow grease

There's is a forum member that makes those adapters for the front. Pretty inexpensive. As far as installing them, there's no major modification involved. All that is required Is removing a section of sheetmetal that is in the way. I believe he has detailed instructions on his site.

TJ 5.25 Speaker Adapters
That metal fab just got a lot easier haha. Now does anyone have advice for a good and inexpensive head unit? I have some crappy Dual in now as the P.O. had a whole sound system but took it.

Their cheaper now. My alpine was only $200 w/ 3 sets of preouts (4v)
A good system starts at the head unit. So base everything off of your choice of it.

I got the Polk 6.5" db651S a while back and they fit in my sound bar without drilling new screw holes. Below is an ebay link to the same kind I got. They sound good too.
I have the 5-1/4" adapters for the the front. I just haven't installed them yet.

These are the adapters I installed yesterday. I just had to cut this small steel piece out of the way with M1 aviation snips. They work well. IMO

Making new screw holes is not an issue easily done just be careful. 6 1/2 speakers fit just fine in most sound bars I put a set of infinity 6.5 in mine with no issues at all. However dont get these speaker holders that go infront of wheel well they are too small for any decent speaker to fit in. Just a heads up for anyone else out there looking at these.

i currently have some sony speakers in my soundbar and i want to get these... Amazon.com: Infinity Reference 6030cs 6.5-Inch 270-Watt Two-Way Component System: Electronics i was wondering what a component system was and if i was able just to buy these to replace the sonys with no extra equipment needed? also would i be able to relocate the sonys from the soundbar to the dash? they seem to be an entirely different shape then the dash speakers...

I have the direct fit Kickers from Quadratec in my soundbar and they sound great. Also they come with wiring harnesses so they are plug and play...no cutting the factory wiring. I'll be ordering the ones for the dash next week.

Amazingly, all items I ordered came yesterday. That was 2-day FREE Amazon shipping instead of 5-8 and Nalin's product also arrived. Installed all 4 speakers and I am more than pleased with Polk Audio. Highly recommend.
