Suspension Question 1997 TJ

Hello this is probably a stupid question but I just picked up a 1997 TJ (Will Post pics Later) It has a hardtop. My question is when you turn the steering wheel left then right, the jeep feels like it wants to roll over could the shocks be worn out or could it be the springs? I am trying to fix as cheap as possible because Iwant to throw on a lift kit in a couple of mohths. Should I look to replace the shocks? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also I used to have CJ7 never a TJ, can you lift a TJ by simply changing springs and shocks?

Thanks

Like it wants to roll over??? Moving or not? Your springs and shocks maybe shot. IF they are they will toss you and keep bouncing after you hit a bump. Cheap lifts you can get a 2" budget boost for cheap and dependable.

Its most likely just your shocks.

Maybe the previous owner was clueless and removed or disconnected the front and/or rear antiswaybars. I'd check there first, followed by checking for blown shock absorbers. Also, what size tires does it have an exactly what air pressure is in them?

x2 on the swaybars.

My 97, when I purchased it used from a Lt.Col at Edwards AFB in California, did not have a front sway bar at ALL! $10.00 and some JKS quicker disconnects later, I was in business and a much more stable ride.

Do you know where to look to check for the swaybars?

Note the swaybar links. The swaybar itself for the front will be behind your bumper under that plastic JEEP cover just in front of the grille.

All this time of seeing those eyes on his rig, I thought it was just a photochop pic. If that's a visor, I want one myself!

Might possibly be a worn out steering stabilizer. On my old 99 Ram I replaced the old one and it was like night and day when turning.

I decided to buy new bushings for rear control arm and sway bar bushings as well as a 2.5 inch coil lift with new shocks I will let everyone know how it turns out. The lower control arm bushings were very rotted looking sway bar bushings pretty rotted as well and the shocks looked to be origional very rusted.
