We just drove a new 2006 Jeep Wrangler “X†that was delivered to our showroom late last night. To me that Jeep feels and drive the same as the 2005s I’ve driven with the same equipment.
The Jeep I drove was a 2006 Jeep Wrangler “X†in Beryl Green, Six Speed, AC, Dark Tinted rear windows, Full Metal Doors, “DSA†limited slip, and a 3.73 rear end axle ratio. I know this is not a big deal to most of you but believe it or not this is how most new Jeeps are sold in today’s market this is DC most popular configuration in Six Speed and Automatic. I for one would opt for adding the Speed Control and a Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel if I were looking for an “Xâ€. The MSRP on this Jeep is $22,585.00 and the Dealer’s invoice is $21,436.00. I looked fairly closely and observed a few notable changes that you might be interested in:
If you are thinking about looking into a new Jeep you might want to consider the 2006 just for the tip and slide driver’s seat and updated fabric, I know I would.

[*]Did you like the tilt and slide construction of the driver’s seat added to the 2005 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited? Guess what, now it comes in the SWB also! I think this is a big deal for folks that ride alone most of the time. For me it has always been a hassle to reach for my laptop or backpack in the backseat when my top is up from the driver’s side door. Big guys like me just don’t bend that way. Now a driver can reach items in the back seat easily without inflicting serious bodily injury on themselves. I for one relay like this enhancement in fact just today I stabbed myself in the sternum reaching for a box of JeepTales Business Cards when I got to work this morning. QUOTE] Okay I am lost.. both the 97 and 00 have a drivers seat that slides and tilts? Or is this something different than those?

It all happens in one motion like the passenger side does on older Jeeps.
The font seat will tilt all the way to the drivers steering wheel now.

Hmmm, seems like my 99 Sahara already does that on the driver seat already. Just can't go as far as the pass. side can because of the wheel itself.
But glad to hear that they have made some nice changes to that X model.

The "Easy Access/ Driver (and passenger)Tip-and-Slide Seats" and "Full-Lenght Floor Console" are both standard equipment in the 2005 X. My 2005 X has it listed in the standard equipment area on the window sticker.
But one "great" feature that the 2006 has is the 3 year 36K bumper to bumper warranty and no longer has the 7 year 70K powertrain warranty in addition to the 3-36K like the 2005. |

I went a checked out an 06 X on the lot at my local dealer. Looks ok. I was sort of curious if there would be any sneak preview features for the 07 on the 06. Guess not. Looks about the same.
Incidenty, the X did not have the bumper caps front or rear.

06 should be all but the same as the 05. Some changes are in store for the 07, not sure if there good or bad yet. IFS bad.

Incorrect. There are always changes. Sometimes they are insignificant or you have to look for them, but they are usually there. I'm sure we'll know soon enough. I think if I were in the market for a new TJ, I'd go for the 06 when the 07 is released. Fortunately, I'm not in the market.

Funny you say that! There are 8 other sales people that work with me and they all spent some time looking at the New 2006 X. Most of them did not see any changes. I guess you have to bleed green to see the subtle differences form MY to MY. My thought is if you sell Jeeps for a living, and this is how you support your family would you not work your butt off to know more about Jeeps than anyone you work with? I for one would be really embarrassed if every time I waited on customers they knew more about Jeeps than I did. When you guys shop for Jeeps do you have to wrap your heads with duck tape to keep it from exploding when you deal with Jeep Salespeople? I’m stunned that managers don’t demand there salespeople are not more well trained on the product, especially Jeep; I think Jeep Buyers are some of the most informed shoppers on the planet. Is it just me, am I too sensitive?
