Death wobble in ny

Hey everyone,

I have an 07 2dr sahara and experienced death wobble for which I can't pinpoint the problem.

Does anyone know of a good mechanic in or near NYC who knows jeeps and can troubleshoot my problem?

Thanks

You may have a broken bolt on your trac bar, check that out.

Do you have a lift? When I had the DW on my 06 TJ, the first problem was a bad tie rod end. I would look there and at your trac bar first if you don't have a lift on it. DW is caused by many problems as we found out the hard way, but usually if you have one bad tie rod and you've gone for awhile, you have potentially damaged other things as well. Look at those two items first and hopefully yo figure yours out way faster than we did.

2 Things to check, one is your steering dampener, this was designed to prevent that exact thing, it looks like a shock absorber and is connected to the steering below the left front bumper, second after it happens check all your brakes, if one is really hot it is hanging up and causing the wobble, it will start small and build up to a pretty scary pace if you do not slow down immediately. For this you can bleed that caliper to see if it is a foreign body and perhaps grease the carriers, but I think it will need to be replaced.

check your castor angles, check your trackbar/drag link angles (if lifted) a stablizer shouldn't determine if you have dw or not.
