How about the 2 groups meet up back at the rocks. The one with the ruts. I'm sure their will be lots of people out this Sunday with better weather.

Anyone done this run? This review makes is seem a tad scarey
I've done it. Pretty intense, not for those of you who don't want to scratch your paint. We had people losing fenders on Jeeps, getting desert pinstripping all day, etc. The route to tank trap is filled with obstacles.
These pics are from last summer in my old JKU Sahara.

I may go out for a little bit later this afternoon just to try out the new discos. Have to retighten everything first. drove around a little yesterday after install and got home to find one of the top bolts in the eye worked loose. That's what I get for not checking factory tightness.

I picked up a $50 midland about 3 years ago. Nothing fancy it does exactly what I need it to do.

I need to test it and and for someone who's real familiar to give a once over. I've done some homework and I think I'm ok but I still need to get it in range of other radios.

I don't have one yet, and as a former truck driver/owner operator, I should have some left around, but had no need for one. May pick up another. I have an old portable one that I don't even know if works or not. I guess I could put batteries in it and see, but the range isn't very far.

I've read that the portables are ok on the trails since the range is better than a 2 way and we will most likely be within range any how. Some folks like the handhelds better since they can be outside of the vehicle to talk if need be.

Maybe you didn't understand. This is a really old unit and I think it was once used by C. Columbus to keep in touch with the other two ships traveling with him.

See my issue is if we do 2 different groups and then meet up somewhere we have no way to communicate. I have a CB. Its all hooked up and ready to go.

I'm thinking 930 or so at the staging area before the dunes since everyone else is going later. I'll wait around to see if anyone else shows up. It's not like we can't find the others back there, it's not Moab
