Hi all - been lurking around for a while... had a good time at Cedro today with the family. Hopefully I can make it out to some runs with everyone when work lets up. Let the boy and dog run around for a little bit - it was a good time.

Now it looks like the US Forest service has shut down Cedro for now.

USFS announced it on 4 Feb 2014. The closure order includes USFR 542, Cedro Peak. Up to a $5000 fine for violating the order. Looks like it is in effect until May 31, 2014, unless they resend the order prior.

Trading mine in on a hybrid and joining the mall crawlers, wait Moab is just 6 hours away and can run Farmington again, just a couple hours down the road.

After the winter months last year, the USFS had to regrade the forest roads for fire protection reasons. I assume this is to preserve the roads throughout the winter, which will be less costly to the USFS come spring.

The order states:

"The purpose of this Order is to protect resources and to provide for public health and safety on road surfaces and sub-surfaces damaged by the effect of winter weather."

This is crazy, everyone trying to close all the 4x4 area's. I just don't get it. That's the whole reason I got the Jeep in the first place - To Go Offroad I am going to sell the Jeep and get a street car again.

It sucks, but unfortunately there isn't much we can do. We have been very fortunate to have the places we have. Other states have been facing closures much more often. Most states have private OHV parks bc all the public lands have been closed or are closing...

C'mon guys, think about this. It is to keep the service roads from being completely rutted out, especially with the warmer weather and melting snow. Colorado does this to forest service roads every year to keep maintenance to a minimum. After the thaw, the roads are opened back up. You know as well as I do, if this was left unchecked, the amount of damage that would be done, and not just by the ignorant.
