Memorial Weekend 2013

Anybody planning to go Jeepin'/Camping in Lincoln National Forest of New Mexico?

I am planning to be there and thought we might be able to coordinate a trail ride together.

Our plans are to go to the Guadalupe Ranger District of the LNF around Queen. Lots of trails to ride, not as crowded as LNF around Cloudcroft, only one park ranger in the entire area, lots of good secluded campsites. Let me know if you are interested and we can get together if you want.

I actually live in Cloudcroft, and it's a zoo here on memorial weekend. I plan on staying close to home though, but enjoy your time in the mountains!

This is why I go to the Guadalupe Ranger District on Memorial Day. I'll bet that on the 385,000 acres there will not be more than 50 people.

If you haven't been to this area, Through Timberon and taking backroads toward the Brokeoff Mountains and through El Paso Gap or taking the high road of FR 69 (or National Livestock) it will take you a couple of hours.

I have never been further South than Pinon. Hunted deer from McGreggor over to Pinon a few years back, rough dry country.
