Southern NM Jeeper here. Bought a used (1900 miles) 2010 Rubicon in July, and I love it more every time I drive it. So far it has done some easy desert trails, and a few hundred miles of forest roads, not much wheeling, but enjoyable just the same.\

We have a lot of miles of forest fire roads in the mountains, and a couple of local canyons where you can test your driving skills. About 70 minutes away, there are some pretty difficult trails just North of Las Cruces. Look up Military Jeepers on Facebook, he is the head of the local Jeep Club, Sacramento Chapter.

Anytime, hope it is a smooth transition. Really starting to cool off here finally, maybe we'll actually get some good snow in the mountains this year.

They are less than an hour apart. There are literally hundreds of miles of dirt roads around here, some mild, some a bit wild.

Money for gas is the only limitation.

I'm in Los Alamos and am like you I'm all for it Apr-Oct. I do preferre the family day trip scenario where were in and out in about 10 hours. No booze hence family day trip.

I'm in the process of well contemplating a Jeep club in my area if your interested.

I have a TAN 2012 Jeep Wrangler 4 door Sahara.

I am. Waiting for warmer weather will give me time to get my YJ going. It's down now and can't figure it out. At any rate, keep me in mind.

Back behind Rio Ranch there are a lot of trails. It has been over 20 years since I have been on any of them but if you get the Gazetteer for New Mexico. If you’re going to Wheel in any state you need to have one of these with you for that state. They show all the roads that are in the US data base. Now there are Jeep trails and fire roads that may not be in there but still you should have it with you. A GPS that has the same type of map info is also a good idea to have.
