Ohio to New Mexico Wheeling Trip.

Hello guys,

The week of Thanksgiving I'll be driving down to Alamagordo to visit my buddy whose stationed at Holloman AFB. We're looking to hit up some trails with in a couple of hours of Alamogordo. There will be a least 2 of coming from Ohio, and couple local to the area. Our rigs are lifted between 3-4" 31"-35" tires and ample amounts of recovery gear. The goal is to go out that Wednesday and Friday. If anyone would like to join us that would be great.

Thanks
Jordan a.k.a Ruffy

Hello. I live in alamogordo. What kind of trails do you want to do? Coyote canyon would be your best bet. Lots of different obstacles. Not sure what's going on that weekend. If I'm not out of town at the in laws i will take you out there. Or I can tell you how to get out there. If you go to militaryjeepers.com Sacramento chapter you will find tons of pics.

Thomas,

We're planning hitting Coyote Canyon on the Wedensday before and Montecellio Canyon on Friday. Ive been Scoping out MJ and thats how I happen on the Coyote Canyon. If you able to join that would be exellent, if not if I could get GPS cooridinates of the trail head that would do. Thanks for your reply Thomas

No not going to make it. We will be out if town. The coordinates to the start of three amigos is 33.140071,-105.991655. That is where it starts right off coyote canyon road. If you go up that canyon about 1/2 mile or so it comes to a fork. You go left then you are on three amigos. There are bypasses but thats no fun. Lol. There are only two moderately hard spots. Then you come out at the articulator. Lots of other fun spots in coyote canyon. Good luck and have some fun.

Thanks Thomas,

Due to a week of mechanical failures with all 4 jeeps, trailer and the towrig we were only in Alamogordo for 2 1/2 days. We were able to hit up Upper Coyote though it was at night. We had good time even though my chain in the T-case is shot and my buddy's trans gave up after the very first ledge/waterfall. going by GPS i think we made it about 3.5 miles through before we turned around to limp the jeeps home. I left my jeep at my buddys house, so Im going back down over New Years to with my spare t-case. We're gonna hit Coyote agian (hopfully during daylight)

That's crazy I hope you get it all fixed. Upper coyote is a fun trail. That first ledge when you get into upper is the hardest part. I made it up right through the middle with lockers but had to go way left up on the bank without. Guys have broke a lot on that ledge. It doesn't seem that hard but its deceiving. I bet at night it was crazy. I want to try that sometime. Well good luck and maybe we can meet up.
