Have fun.

Sounds like you guys had a blast! I know everyone is looking forward to this trip. Keep in touch with us and maybe we all go together next year. Imogene is my favorite s well!

Wait until that 1st, 2nd time you have to pass someone on the trail, you will think there is no way and yet it will happen over and over.

The first time I had to pass one of those Dodge 2500 with viewing racks on the back, I thought you "got to be sh!tting me", but there was room.

This will be a fun & safe (we will make that way) trip, looking forward to hanging out with everyone and meeting people.

Fred it usually rains in the afternoon/evening. Sometimes just a shower but better safe than sorry. I am leaving Thursday for up by Telluride area and put my top on last night just before the deluge and lightning. I have the T top hardtop, so at least I will be part naked. You guys have fun, too soon for me to go again.

Oh and sweats or coat at night.

I would plan for the worst and hope for the best...LoL We will be running with doors, soft top down & a spider shade weather permitting. It gets pretty nipple'ly on top of the passes. Good weather 75 to 80 day and 45 to 55 night, but it can change in an instance...come prepared.

We got hooked on wheelin in the mountains. It sure is different with those steep drop offs ( can be a bit of a butt pucker from time to time ) compared to the rocks we climb in central Texas, but man you just can't beat the scenery. Enjoy.

When we ran Imogene and Ophir, I did not see anywhere to check in. You may want to contact Jeep and see what the check in procedures are. Can't wait to see some badges on your rigs.

If they didn't want to access my friend list, or my address book I'd be okay with it. So I won't do it, just me though.

When I selected do not allow it closed the app, how did you sign in? I'll download it again and you can show me Sunday.

That's not "it", that's ever single app/program out there that allows you to connect through Facebook. It's not like it phishes for info, it just permits the app/program to post the info to Facebook so your friends can see it.

Yep, I understand that and I'm pretty sure I don't have any apps that do this stuff. I have 11 friends on FB and my name changes about every 6 months. Do you think I'm too paranoid?

Bump: Update 7/20

Ouray / Silverton Labor Day Jeep trip

Labor day is Monday Sept 2nd, the weekend trip is planned for Friday Aug 30th thru Monday Sept 2nd. 4 days in Colorado's San Juan region.

This trip will be based out of Ouray CO. most of the Jeep trail heads are very close or right in Ouray which makes it perfect location. Ouray has great places to eat and drink (mico-brew pubs), store's for your supplys if needed etc.

Lodging, anyone attending can stay any where they like , camp etc. I have spoken to Twin Peaks Lodge in Ouray ( No affiliation to TP's in ABQ ..LOL) which is the largest and Imo the one of the nicer hotels/ Lodges to stay at. I plan to base the trip out of Ouray / TP's Lodge.
Ouray Colorado Twin Peaks Lodge & Hot Springs
They will give us a nice grp rate, can definitely accommodate a large group. they have king rooms, dbl queen, family rooms with bunk beds. We get a family room with the kids and its great. $$$ range about a $100 a night at the grp rate, of course this is subject to change until I reserve a block of rooms. Plan on 3 nights( Fri , Sat, Sun)
Once we have some solid conformations on who is going I will reserve a block rooms then each person will have call and secure there room.

Labor day is Monday Sept 2nd, the weekend trip is planned for Friday Aug 30th thru Monday Sept 2nd. 4 days in Colorado's San Juan region.

Prepare your self for a life changing Off-Road trip, please leave bad attitudes at home. This outing is family based and is for everyone especially the kids (large and small..) The trip will be based out of Ouray CO. most of the Jeep trail heads are very close or right in Ouray which makes it perfect location. Plan on 3 nights( Fri , Sat, Sun)checking out Monday AM.
Once we have some solid conformations on who is going I will reserve a block of rooms then each person will have to call and secure there room from our group package. Some may want to share larger rooms. When you sign up to attend please specify what kinda room you will want, how many people, pets and or if you are not planning to say with the group at the Lodge. Timing is important if you want a room, respond ASAP. Lodging at TP's Lodge is not required to attend.

Basic trail options are Easy - Moderate - Difficult : We can make trail choises based on our grp. There is a ton of options for us. Everything in the San Juans is amazing. Like of the Iconic trails Bruce mentioned we should plan do some of them. My self I am hoping we run a few of the "Jeep Badge of Honor trails", so we cam make a mark for our NM group.
Badge of Honor | Off Road Trails, Jeep Life, Trail Badge | Jeep

If you don't have a guide to Colorado's trails FunTreks Guide Books and Electronic Trail Guides - FunTreks Guidebooks for Jeep Trails, 4 Wheel Drive Trails, and back country roads I would recamend getting one off amazon. One of the most complete guides to all the trails with way-points, trail difficulty, etc. and a must for any Off-Roader.

As we get a little further in to this we can fine tune the exact trails tailored to the groups wants and abilities. Anyone can go, no Jeeper is counted out. We will make it work. There are a few basic things everyone will need to bring. First aid kit, fire extinguisher, Water, trail food, hot, cold, wet weather clothing, flash light, etc. Its never a good idea to go Off-roading with out the simple stuff that can save your life. I also highly recamended a CB radio. It will help for general info and communication is always a plus on the trail. At a bare minimum your rig must have 4wd, Lo-range, recovery points and a full size spare.

Well this gives everyone the basics and if this trip is for you, I hope you can attend. We would like to keep it down to 10 Rigs many more than that it gets very time consuming. If we have a major interest we can look into adding more. Stock or built rigs, everyone is good to go.
Starting a list of confirmed and possible attending. Please send me (Big-T) a PM with your info.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lodging up date: Twin Peaks Lodge is full! no rooms left for this weekend. I was informed by the manager yesterday. So Any room that is not secured by July 30th from our Block will be cancled from our group reservation and returned so TP's can rent it to some one else.

Current Jeepers for the Ouray, CO trip as of 7/20. Feel free to contact me with and questions. Group has filled up nicely, We sure to have a fantastic time. Group has been adjusted to confirmed people that are attending and have secured there lodging.

Confirmed:
1. Darkfire - (2)

Just got back from there for a quick day and a half trip

My God that place is beautiful!

They've had a lot of rain, more than usual for them, so it's sloppy all around there. Who knows by Labor Day, but just an FYI if anyone is planning to camp.

Even better! It's a VW Touareg (Fleg's).

You should see the stares he gets as the built vehicles coming the other way let us through...it's hilarious!

But honestly, the damn thing is capable as hell. Diesel, 4x4, has 4lo, has lockers, and the air ride suspension can give it something like 6-8" of clearance over it's lowest setting.
