I've named an obstacle in the Rio Puerco the Trap,,, so far it's winning.. The Trap 3 me in the JK=0 me in the JKU=TBD...
this even won after I got bigger tires.... .. this spot does (or can) give you some nice scrape on the fenders, and possibility other damage.. ...
I hope to get out there in Nov... maybe the weekend of the 16th or 23rd... or??

Anyone recongize this spot,, if so do you win or did the Rio Puerco win..
not sure if it has a name or not...

here's a few pics... of what I call the Trap.

and so CLOSE.... but it sucked me in once again...

Here we go..

the Trap as I have named it..

I thought I had it on this one.... but it sucked me in again...

again so close but not to be...

The Trap won again... I'll be back... but at this point I didn't know I'd be back with a different Jeep....

so the guys that have done this when I've been with them have either monster tires... I think the one had 40's a nice red JK..
and then one guy blasted his XJ thru it.. which I wasn't going to do..
then another buddy got his Diff high center... we towed him out. as he was stuck from going either forward on backward...

It's amazing what I wheeled with that Jeep and yet that spot which didn't appear to be that hard has to be the hardest thing I have attempted...
includes lots of Moab trails.. the double waterfall............etc....

That looks like a tricky climb. I can see why you had reservations about it.

I call that my starter Jeep. 2011 Rubi 2DR.. 2 1/2" lift.. I had just bought 34" tires due to having puncture two side walls two weekends in a row... then in late May I ran into a deal I just had to jump on...

I'll beat the trap next time... 2013 JKU 3" Teraflex Full Flex arm (netted 3 3/4" in the front and 3 1/2" in the back... still needs to settle some) with the same 34's

I think the wheel base will give me the advantage next time around.. I also think if I had the 2 DR still I would try a slightly different line...

So this does have a bypass to it..

I found the second time I attempted it.. still had the 32's on... but I thought if I took my Jeeping experts to spot me
I would beat it.... not to be..

I remember this day. That is the day I broke my rear track bar bracket bolt and had to limp out of there. I went back a few months later and went up it. We should go try it again. I was out there a few weeks ago, but I didn't attempt it. We did some shooting just to the west of there.

I think I was there that day too. I was tempted to try it but I was wary my hard top might go into the rock.

I finally got to check out this obstacle. Wow. Pictures do not do it justice. My rig is nowhere near built for that one yet.

Went out today and did what I call Moab Training... First time I have really put the new JKU to the test.. went to obstacle I named the Trap (above video and pictures) find out it's also known as The Back Door... personally I think the Trap fits it better these days... its even more rotted out then it was in March...
It's still a tough one on most Jeeps... 2DR's unless one has monster tires... and for 4DR's without front lockets....

I miss the 2DR Rubi when doing harder wheeling but today helped get me over some of that..

I WON today's battle "The Trap" was put to bed... I just had to buy a 4DR to do it..
then on the double water fall run my old 2DR Jeep eat it up much better.... My JKU barely had enough lift (neated 3.5" on 34's) to make it today... I had to work for it..

Today's trails tell me I'm once again ready for trails in Moab... ie; Cliff Hanger, and the Trifecta...

Great Wheeling pics Steve, we were on "Trap" just 12 hours prior. A Few of us LOL, 17 rigs came out, we deep fried a turkey and lit a bon fire for our 2nd night run.
