Why can't we post items for sale in the local section before posting in the larger sections? In NM especially we like to keep it local if possible. We try to take care of each other here. But I guess we could continue to migrate elsewhere.

So the forum is not spammed and so that hopefully members stick around and not use the site like Craig's list. Only 15 posts after all. A mod can correct me if I'm wrong. there are lots of spammers that join the site and are promptly banned.

That is great to hear but there are many if us locals that simply just post hey I got a new bumper anyone want to buy my current one before I post on the main? That's how I bought my current bumper and made a good friend in the process. Not saying don't ban the guy who's first ever post is only about what he's selling. Just don't ding the local posting to his friends.

InvertChaos covered it pretty well.If there were no rules then this site would be jammed up like c-list.Wrangler Forum is foremost a place for Jeep people to interact with each other. To share opinions, ideas and get help with their jeeps. The classified is just an extra for these folks and the 15 post minimum just cuts down on the fly bys and c-listers

To add to InvertChaos and Harleydragon's posts. If we allow for sale ads in the local forums then all local forums will have to be monitored by the system filters. These filters are in place to prevent anyone with less than 15 posts from posting. In other words every post made in the local forums would be monitored and those made by new members would be deleted.

The rules are in place for a reason. If you want to see what is for sale locally, simply use the location search feature in the classifieds.

Why couldn't you limit it to one thread per state? You could have a "NM classified" thread and any 'for sale' posts outside that thread could be deleted or locked as they are now. That would keep the state forums from bowing up with for sale adds. Even if the one thread did receive several posts, who cares, it is limited to one thread and you maintain the integrity of the site.

I agree with NM_JK. When I bought my bumper and a few other things I was not searching for the items. It was simply a matter of someone saying hey I have part does anyone want this and me having the cash on hand. I would have not of discovered otherwise. I do however agree and understand the need to restrict abuse from unwanted post.

Wat3rdog, youve been here long enough to (hopefully) realize that trying to leverage your participation to get the mods to do what you want is silly.

As was said here in a different thread previously: sell the tv because the remote is out of batteries.

Too many people just want something to complain about.

X2. If you're unaware you can search only your state in the classified ads...

Just more or less asking for a little ease on some post in the local section. I get blocking the "item for sale" "$xx.xx". I would just appreciate a laxed attitude for they "hey anyone want to buy before I post in the classifieds?"
That's all.

P.S. I appreciate how the thread is managed so far. I've seen a few things that if let go could have gotten out of hand but those were managed and the result was very positive. Good job to the admins.

Best bet other than craigslist would be local Jeep Facebook groups. I'm in a couple groups in KC, one here in town and another not too far away.

Guys this has been explained many times by both Members, Moderators and even Administrators. These rules have been in place for a long time the difference now is there are additional enforcement of those rules. That enforcement is a direct result of more efficient spammers and individuals that took advantage of the rules. Just like when a trail gets closed because those one or two bad apples went off the trail over and over. Ever stop to think that WF could have just gotten rid of the classifieds altogether??? But they choose instead to keep it and and simply enforce the guidelines already in place...

A LOT of work goes on behind the scene to keep YOUR WF spam free so you don't have to wade though 10's or 100's of spam listings to find what you're looking for. And this work also helps to make sure those items you post in the classifieds don't get lost in a flood of spam.

You can still sell your items. When you put on a new mod and put it in your build thread simply note that bumper, wheels etc will be in (your state's) classifieds. And when you're searching the classifieds simply use the STATE filter to limit your search to your immediate area. Continually arguing and asking why can't we do this or that etc is simply a waste of time. The RULES are the RULES. We don't always like them and honestly we don't have to like them. But we do have to follow them or face the consequences...

I know I was just hoping that this site wasn't disappearing for me. I like my freedom of a user controlled site. Oh well.
