$200 fine for no front licence plate

As of September first they can now give you a $200 hundred dollar fine, before it was required but no fine.

I have one just to avoid the headache of getting pulled over. They will start enforcing that for $200, easy money for them.

meh, slap on the wrist.
I passed 5 cops this morning (city depot on my way in to work in Fort Worth) and not even a blink at me. Been running no front plate for 2 years now.

such a BS law anyway. they were supposed to remove the law from the books considering many high-end sports cars dont even have a bracket or a place for a front plate.

I'll worry about it if/when they actually enforce it.

It's BS just like the license plate frame law. I had a trooper pull me over and I had to get out with a screw driver right there and take the stupid dealer plate frame off to avoid a ticket for it because it partially covered TEXAS.

I've run w/o a front plate since '06. I've gotten pulled over for it a few times but only ever got a warning. Unless I was getting pulled over for speeding (which happen 4 or 5 times) in which case I got a ticket. My lawyer always said that was a good thing tho because it gave them a chance to let me out of the speeding ticket and still make money off of me.

No front plate for me

No. I got pulled over yesterday for it being on my dash. Just gave a warning though.

Watch out for Arlington. They seem to be the ones that are being over achievers on pulling people over.

A buddy of mine, driving an Infinity G35, has been pulled over 5 times in Arlington for no front plate. All warnings, no tickets, and a different cop each time.

Me, I have counted 15 cops that I have passed. 3 I have waved to, and two I have been driving behind them for over 2 miles and nothing, all in Fort Worth

I saw on the news where they were going to have a grace period and only give warning.

Right, and I would expect as much. But to be pulled over 5 times in two days in Arlington? That seems a bit excessive. THing is, we both live in Haslet. So he has to go through a couple other jurisdictions to get to Arlington, just as I have to go through the wonderful city of Saginaw to get to downtown.

I'll ride it out as long as i can then I'll order another plate, or get a new set, whatever I have to do, when I actually have to.

Well crap. Been running without a front plate ever since I put my stubby bumper on. Now I have to decide whether or not I want to risk it, or try and figure out someway to mount it without it looking like garbage.

I'm not so much worried about my hometown as much as I am about when I travel across state. I've passed countless cops in my area with no problems.

well... that didnt take long. Got pulled over this AM by DPS on 156 just south of Haslet. Got off with a warning.

The thing that ticked me off the most was that he pulled me over for not having my lights on before 30min after sunrise. It was 0713 at the time. Then he casually looked up front for my front plate (we passed each other on 156) and informed me that i didnt have one.

go figure.. none of the local cops gave a darn about it (they probably have more important things to do) but the first Trooper i pass and BAM!

Meh, oh well, $6 for replacement plates.

It was on the books, but never enforced here in Texas. Sept 1 is when they all of a sudden decided to enforce it. Such a BS law because our registration sticker on the window has our license plate number on it.

It's not really that they just decided to enforce it; there's been no way to enforce it for a couple of years. During the previous legislative session in 2011, they made some kind of change to the law regarding the requirements for license plates. When they I'd, they accidentally removed the penalty for not having them. For the last couple of years, you really could have driven around without any plates at all and there was no penalty assigned. They fixed their mistake this session and reinstated the penalty.

I agree that it's a stupid law.

Got pulled over by DPS Thursday for not having mine on. Is it ok if it's at an angle facing down? I want to put mine on the lower portion of my bumper so it's not such an eye sore

Asked a Haltom city officer today, he said yes you can get a fine now. He said personally he won't pull someone over for it, but there are plenty who will and write the ticket. Bastards.

I have a Warn Rock Crawler front bumper and it angles down towards the ground and so far I haven't been pull over.

I have to agree though the law is really stupid. No reason what so ever to require a front license plate when there's multiple vehicle types that don't even have a place for them.
