2012 Jeep engines

I understand that there are two engines. I was told the SVT replaced another and is much better. When I go to Jeeps website, they say the new motor is the VVT. Can someone please clear this up?

The 3.6 replaced the 3.8 this year.

07-11 3.8
12 3.6

It's a better more modern engine yes
