(Austin) Need help with Jeep

I recently purchased a 95 Wrangler Sahara edition straight 6 4.0L. There are some issues with it. I was wondering if anyone can recommend to me a good jeep mechanic in the Austin, TX area.

Thanks,
Phil

Try Jerry's in Round Rock. I have my 98 worked on there and I'm well pleased.

what do you need done? Jeep Masters is $$$. If it's something specific to only jeeps, like axle swap, transfer case, etc..., they would be good. It really depends on what you need done. Jeep Masters is very knowledgeable but it will cost you.

yes, one of the owners runs or partially runs one of the clubs. Austin Jeep Exclusive is that one I believe.

Second the recommendation for Jerry's. They just put in my new 4.2 crate motor, and it runs great. They also are good about service after the service. I know the owner, and the shop manager. Both are Jeepers. Corner of AW Grimes and Old Settlers.

Is there a reasons why no one has mentioned Just Jeeps off of Lamar? I only ask because I am a new Jeep owner too.

I've never used Just Jeeps myself, but what I have heard is they are also $$$ like Jeep Masters. I think it really depends on what work needs to be done. If it is something specific to your 4wd, upgrading axle, etc.., then they would be a good option. But for normal maintenance things, shop around.

I am currently on my 2nd jeep. When I first bought it, I brought it up to Jeep Masters just to have them get under it and tell me everything that needed to be done or should be done.

they wanted 175 dollars to change the oil in both differentials--they said they both needed to be done--I did both myself for 30 dollars in supplies in my garage. When I did the front, the oil didn't even need to be changed, yet they said it did.

For a rear main seal oil leak, they quoted me close to 500. Mechanic down the street quoted me for 300.

You just have to shop around. If you are in south austin and need general work done--check out Allies Automotive off slaughter lane. I have taken a few vehicles there for some work.

Hey. A bit of a drive but if you want great work at a great price go to The Mod Shop. AKA. Jones Jeeps in Marble Falls Tx. I am having metal cloak fenders. Snorkel. Lights and a new gas tank put on. Labor 700. You can not beat that.

I know of another member who had work done at Jone's Jeep in Marble Falls. He had a regear done and was quite pleased with the work. Just an FYI
