buying a used jeep. help please

hey guys,
a friend of mine told me about these forums.
so i'm here seeking help.
i'm about to buy a 2005 Jeep Wrangler Sport RHD has 112,212 miles. for about $9,000

for me, that seems a little cheap considering the year, i also understand it has a lot of miles.

here is my question, what should i be looking for when i test drive it?
there has to be a reason why the price is so low, unless you guys don't think so.

the truck has full doors, but NO top, no soft, or hard tops coming with it.

my 2nd question, is there any wrangler pros out there that are not doing anything friday mid day ? i'd actually like to take someone with me that knows about jeeps.
from my past experience, enthusiasts are much better than any pros.

please let me know, and thank you all for your help.

Welcome to the Forum

You might want to mention what area you or the jeep are in. Texas is a big state. I'm sure that you will find someone willing to help you out.

Usually when the mileage hits over 100,000 the price tends to drop! Check Kelly Blue book, I think that would definitely help you on what kind of price you should get. Goodluck!!

P.S!! Test drive it on a highway and not just on a regular road, so you can see its full potential!

thank you for the response
KBB excellent condition is 14k
so this is 4k cheaper.
i'm not desperate for a vehicle, but my toy budget is around 10k, and obviously i'd like to get the most bang for my bucks.
anything i should worry about since it's a high milage vehicle other than driving it on the highway ?

Was it a delivery vehicle? Constant stop and go is much harder on any vehicle than the a nice 65 - 70ish on the highway.

If you were closer to San Antonio I would help you out with the test drive. I personally think that price is high and would not recommend to buy it. Keep looking and focus more on the mikes on it and what's been done to it. A wrangler from the years 97-06 are the same model but some stuff changed after 02 I believe. Pay attention to the undercarriage and what mods have been done to it. If you have more questions pm. If you ever find one at SA and come to check it out I'm willing to go with you.

X2 on looking underneath. Being close to the coast jeep might have been on the beach a lot. Check for rust on frame.

are you not recommending it because of mileage vs price ratio ?

here is the carfax report, i'm not sure if it would help.
please let me know if the link doesn't work

That one reason but just notice you are getting it from a dealership, so that makes more sense on the price. Even pick up the carpet on driver and passenger side to check for any rust. Just look at all the small things. Don't want something that is going to have problems down the road.

The price is a little high for the milage. I paid 14700 for my 2004 with 38000 miles. I think the miles are the issue for most people but the I6 is a tank engine. Many jeeps on here have more than 100000 miles with no issues. I personally wanted something with a few less miles. Keep looking though. I passed on a 2006 with 65000 miles for 12000. And two days later I found mine.

i really don't.
i don't want to spend 10k on a vehicle, then 15k in repairs.
in that case i could have bought a new wrangler with warranty.

Also don't forget to add TT&L to your out the door price now you are over 10000$ for a jeep with over 100000 miles.

keep looking man. check austin, houston, san antonio, and your town daily on craigslist. one will show up with everything exactly in the range you want but it might take time. mine took a few months to show up but when it did, it was exactly, and i mean exactly, what i wanted
