What kind of lift did you get? We can do the bumpers and winch at my house in Rowlett. Wife and I will be there on Wednesday, so if you can wait a few days more we can get it done.

I didn't get any lift yet. I'd like a little input on what to get and a shop suggestion in the area, unless someone here wants to do it for me. :-) I am definitively not skilled enough (or at all! lol!) to install stuff myself. Maybe in time I will learn so I can save myself some $$$. This is my first Jeep so I am admittedly lacking in the knowledge department. I will learn, though!

I don't even HAVE the bumpers yet, so no rush there. Again, I'd welcome input. I've done some looking on Quadratec but I don't want to end up with stuff that's no good just because I thought it looked the best, ya know?

I used to own a 90 full size bronco that was lifted that I loved to drive, but had to sell because it was too expensive to drive. I've always wanted a jeep. My sister and her husband got a 2012 Unlimited Wrangler last year and after driving it a couple times I was sold. Anyways, I've noticed a rather large amount of jeeps in the Flower Mound/Lewisville area and was wondering where everyone went offroading in the DFW?
Military Jeepers has a run scheduled for the end of Aug. 2 requirements and you meet both, military and a Jeep.

Sweet. Hope you're getting some good results from it. I take it you're close to Prosper then. Btw, many years of wheeling and wrenching on Jeeps here. Low post count here as I generally don't get on this site much, too much drama in the past. Always willing to help new jeepers.

I understand, and that makes perfect sense! I'm not a JK guy, so I will have to ask the wheelers I trust who own them which lift works best for the JK. Quadratic is a good site. I have used them quite a bit, without issues. I have heard of people having problems with their return policy, but I haven't experienced any. They sent me a ups shipping label, I boxed the item and called ups to pick it up, or dropped it off at a ups store.

I will do some calling and see what the other wheelers recommend. Do you know how much lift you want, or what size tires you want to run? I know with the TJ axle strength will limit the size tire you should run, but I'm not sure if the same applies to the JK. I will have more info for you later today.

I have a Metalcloak aluminum front bumper and a JCOffroad rear bumper.. they both work well, are well made and fit well. They have their own website so you can go to their website to see their products on your Jeep.

^I really like the idea of an aluminum bumper for the weight/fuel savings....but I wonder how robust they are compared to steel bumpers, especially in a collision. Also, I've read that trying to weld aluminum to repair damage is considerably more difficult from a technical standpoint, than welding a steel bumper. What's your take on that?

I did it for the weight savings. The bumper isnt much wider than the frame rails so that you can get your wheels on to a rock or ledge without interference. The hard points are directly bolted to the frame. I can send you a pic if you want.

I've seen it when looking at various bumper options. It's really nice...honestly I might go with an aluminum bumper as well...don't have to worry about rust with aluminum

Linkage adjustment bolt might have turned. do you have a body lift? If so, did you install a relocation bracket for the linkage? Some jeeps need them, some don't. It's kind of a crap shoot, and likely depends on how the linkage is adjusted to begin with. NEway, I would start with the 1/2" linkage adjustment bolt.

There is a small plastic piece in the linkage that is prone to breaking. Sounds like what you describe.

Pull the boot and take a look around first. You may need get underneath to see the linkage setup. You'll find pictures of it if you google or bing "wrangler pops out of 4 low".

Try this link in WF:

Body lift shouldn't make a difference. I had a 2" BL on my 08 and never had any issues and wheeled it weekly.

You may not need an adapter. It may just be as easy as adjusting the bolt.

It seems kinda hit or miss. Some don't have a problem, and some do. I haven't seen one without a BL have this problem....well, there was one, but he broke his linkage. LOL!

I have seen 3 without a BL have that piece break. I think it has to do with people not having their Jeep at a slow roll and having to yank hard on the xfer case lever because they are stopped.
