50, my Dad always told me nothing good is happening between midnight and 6am. Son, "you sure as hell aren't going to church at that time of night" I thought of that when I saw rd 2 posted at 5:24a

I thought that conversation was over but if round two is starting then I'm finding a new forum because this is rediculous.

Well, I had Marty on ignore, but then this showed up..

Marty,
I dont think ANYONE on this board thought it was reasonable to ask for what you did. Even Mike, his post was in jest.

I just dont understand the rest of your post. I look at Jeepers and this way of life as those who appreciate the outdoors and owning, maintaining and modifying a vehicle that can take you places you couldnt or wouldnt have gone to otherwise. I do believe one can make friends here, but there is a limit as to what to expect from others on a board that you actually spend very little time with on the occasional weekend.
Unfortunately, the volume of posts on the board went down after the last bit of rambling that went on, and this will only make it potentially worse.

Marty, I am not sure what you are trying to accomplish with this.
I am trying to be honest and sincere. Maybe its my age and I am too old to understand. But to a degree, I am with Tom, if you are only posting this to try to create more drama or to just poke at me with a stick, I guess it worked to the extent I am posting this, but this is it. I thought I was creating a group of friends here, but if this "act" continues, I too have better things to do than respond to obtuse posts. It will truly sadden me to have to leave and no longer post here.
If any of you others think I am out of line, post up, I will listen.
I have been on my Lightning owners forum for over 10 years and just havent seen anything like this before.

I hear ya Dana. But unfortunately asking others to post up is also going ag it on. This thread basically died after round one. If it keeps up, I'll only post on the other thread and if for some reason it moves to the other thread then i will just leave this site except to read two other threads I enjoy because this crap doesn't get posted there. See you on the other thread Dana.

To All of those who give a care on this matter one way or the other, this will be my final post regarding such...

1st of all it was a simple request, then it went stupid regarding someone trying to explain why they would not even think about it.

2nd of all someone piped in with their 2 cents, which was ok, because I wanted to play around, but then he got pissed... ect... from there.

3rd of all I did apologize and ask for forgiveness like a man, in which I got shunned and nobody accepted it as far as I know since we didn't get any post regarding it.

Now for My Final Reply:

I picked up a homeless man on the road in the rain one day, with only a blanket for a shelter and took him home with me to stay the night. The stench was very bad, so I drew him a bath and got him in to the tub. Left him until he said he was done. When I saw the water it set me back, because it was so dirty it had to be months since this young mans last bath. (Black as Coal)

Then he asked me to help him with all the shaving stuff, because he wanted to look like me. We started off with the scissors, then used the razor. All said and done he was very happy with the change and I was as well. He really looked good.

The next morning I started breakfast and he kept saying that's too much to cook for just the 2 of us and he still thought he was in California. It was a challenge to convince him he was in Texas now. Got him to church the next day and plugged in to a program. He got a haircut that day too.

Since that day I have helped many others in different ways, including ex-employees, due to their drug additions. After their termination I invited them into my own home to pay them for odd jobs around the ol' place.

Regarding one other man not mentioned above, I invited he and his 5 year old daughter to my home so he could teach her to ride her bicycle. I gave him the choice of which of my 2 bikes he wanted to ride while teaching her. Even after that it really went bad for him and he called our work place asking for money here while back to get a bus ride to get out to Odessa where a friend could help him clean up. Well yes, of course I did it and NO it didn't work out this time for him, but I still have Faith, Hope and Love for him everyday.

I got pissed off because you started making threats against people and myself.
My threat was because I couldn't because I'm renting a room right now because I just got off the road. I nicely told you sorry but I can't. You got pissed and threatened me. Apology? Did anyone get one? because I did not.

Well, I see Marty just couldnt leave it alone.
Now I am stupid, according to Marty.

In addition to this, threatening folks with posting confidential information and then calling others posers is just "playing around". Then after all this happens, and Marty realizes he went over the line. He apologizes.
I am a Christian and should forgive those who step over the line. But that doesnt mean that I care to go offroading or to hangout with that person again. I am unsubscribing to this thread so that I dont get notifications about posts to it anymore. I have already put some on my ignore list. This is just silliness at its best.
Tom, please lets not even respond any longer, it just gives this thread the attention it does not deserve. I am moving on, as I am so over it.

If your talking in the rear....don't do it. Those who try it...don't like!!

In the front, they are ok. I have the Spartan, which is exactly the same mechanics, and love it off road. Reluctant to use 4x4 on the street because it pushes, plows, understeers.

I planning it for the front. Since we live in tx there is not much occasion to use it on the street. Does your spartan limit your turning radius a lot? (That was my original reason for wanting a selectable.)

Oh, I Forgot to mention "David" is the Leader of this group! He is the 1 I came to the dance with and "He will always be the 1 I dance with"!

Others have tried to do a group thing, or start their own thing, but they are in for a "Bad" experience IMO!

Yes, I have given him a hard time on line, but he is the only one who ignored it, knowing it was in jest all the way! "David is a Real Jeeper"!

Yes I know how hard it is, but He said you had to!

David, Deal with it, because you are a real "Leader"!!!

I have read a lot of reviews and comments on both. In my research the aussie has more positive reviews and is cheaper. Seems like a win win. I just don't want to severely limit my turning radius on the trail.

My friend is about to install one after Christmas. I plan to have him take some radius measurements to see what actual effect the locker has on turning. I'll let you know.

So what does an Aussie locker do exactly?

Well for all you "Hater's" out there here ya go:

I know some hate me on this site, but they don't know the difference of playing on line from "Real Life"!

I never "One Time" threated anyone on this site. If you call "Do not make me tell" is a threat then I'm guilty as charged! Wow really?

Just because you broke your Toy by being "Stupid" and you allowed me to push you into telling on yourself "That's Your Problem"!

If you even read my posts, which I'm sure you didn't, I never asked you to drive me that night. Hell you don't even live close to Love Field! I'm not even sure why you posted on this subject?

You just want to give folks a hard time is all I come up with! "Tom"!

An Aussie locker is an automatic locker. That means that when there is no power being given to the wheels it allows you axels to differentiate, in other words your tires to spin at different speeds. But when power is applied to the wheels the axels lock and spin at the same time seriously increasing your traction.

Aussie Lockers are also what we refer to as lunch box lockers. Meaning they fit into the carrier in your axel replacing the spider gears. That makes them cheaper and very easy to install. Anyone who can change brakes can do the job themselves instead of needing special tools and experience.

The other "cool" feature of automatic lockers is that even when the axels are "locked" one tire can still spin faster than the drive train but never slower. Which is supposed to really help with steering. But there are differing opinions as to how much it helps. Many people prefer the more expensive selectable lockers so when you drive on the street or need to turn tight in the trail you can just turn them off and the axel acts just like a stock open differential.

Of the lunch box lockers I have found and read about. Aussie is the cheapest at around $250 an axel, and has the most favorable user reviews. If I had the money I would prefer selectable lockers in my daily driver but that $250 price point is so appealing I am thinking of putting one in the front axel on my jeep. That way when in 2 wheel drive on the street it minimizes the changes to driving characteristics but on the trail it makes me awesome. :-)

Hope that helps.

David, I'm coming to the same conclusion. 1/4 the price and really I just want one for the front. Hopefully driveability wont change much. I've heard some say they click a little even in 2wd. Some say they don't notice. I'd like a ride when you get yours if you don't mind.

You got it.

Also I plan to do some experiments around the install, at least to measure turning radius before and after in 4 wheel drive. I will post up the info when I get it done. (Probably mid January)

That would be cool. Very interested in what the outcome is on the turning radius and such.

Thank you!

My wife and I took a vacation in Durango Co a couple years ago. While there, we rented a jeep and drove the Alpine Loop. Neither of us had ever even been a jeep before, but we both fell in love with them on that day. 12 months later, we had saved enough to get this one. Couldn't be happier with the purchase. Can't wait to get her off road and see what she can do.

Wherever did you get a M416 and how much? I think I saw your rig at Bridgeport once.

Picked it up off craigs list for $400. It's missing all the hand break stuff, has a broken tailight housing, and probably needs a new floor due to rust, but it'll come back to life. The frame is being blasted and powder coated as we speak. Might get it back on Monday.

I doubt you saw my rig at Bridegport. I don't think it's ever even been off road. I bought it off a woman who was the only other owner and she just used it to truck her daughters around town. The underside doesn't have a scratch on it. I plan to change all that, but between working on it and adding a new member to the family, I just haven't had much free time. Hopefully this spring I can tag along on some runs with some folks. I am really getting the itch.

That's a really good price from what I've seen and all of them need restored unless someone has already done so, but then they really want too much. Congrats on the new arrival and we will see you soon.

Considering the scarcity of them, I think I got it at a good price on it. I'll still end up having close to 3k in it before I'm done. Maybe a little cheaper if I can pick up a decent used set of tires and wheels.
