what did they do to Bridgeport!?

Went out today with some friends from work on a last minute invite. Holy crap, someone got a little plow happy. They made a drive way out of one of my favorite areas where the power lines go, and where Godzilla is.

We still had a really great time, but does anyone know if they are making new trails, or trying to make recovery / rescue easier or what? We ran into some people that were out there 2 weeks ago and it wasn't like this.

Just curious if anyone knows what the story is.

What time were y'all there? We were there from 0845 until about 1330. We clipped most of the barbed wire that we found and cleared off the trail best we could.

The folks we helped were first timers from Frisco.

Bridgeport really needs to do a better job of trail marking / signs. The "map" could use some help too.

But I'm still curious as to why so much was plowed over.

Edit: the people that we had helped out managed to get that barbed wire all wrapped around the axle and it was a complete mess. Took about 15-20 min to get it cut out and cleared. This was around noon. We got lucky because we had just passed that same spot 20 min prior.

We met up a little after 10 and played around in the mud holes around the Pavilion. Then to the high top. Next Spider Web rested a bit and didn't hit the east boundary section until around 16:00 after trolling around and playing in the mid some more. When I saw the wire I got a little paranoid. I live on a farm and have cut more than my share out of a mower.
I live in Decatur but the group I was with is from Sache. We were all first timers except for wrangler girl. We had five total. Would have been cool to hang with yall.

About 10-15 of us are supposed to be out this weekend. It's a camping weekend as well. As for the barbed wire and jacked up and paved area, I'll ask Paul when I email him this week.

Hey Guys, yea we went out Saturday and they have jacked up some of the really good climbs...completely demolished them and made them bypasses. Not impressed. There were limbs and barbed wire everywhere.

Hammerwalk...what were you wheelin'? I'm sure we seen you guys out there!

All in all it was a good run for the new guys with the easy - mid trails but a big thumbs down for the clearing, etc. on BP's part.

I was in a black 02 TJ with spice color safari top and no doors. Had a silver JK with me as well

Were y'all the group with the H2? I also ran into another group that had a female harlequin Dane.

Yeah, try to go back out there now. It's way crazy.wish I would have actually taken some pictures but oh well.

On another note. I was out at our aviation group @ Meacham off Lincoln. As I was coming back from lunch I saw a white JK, i believe ( was in mid conversation when i saw you) with DFW Crawlers on the hood. Which one of y'all was over there?

I'm referring to rock creek/Lebanon or Custer/121. I was reading the wrong thread.

I am dropping the Jeep off on Sunday, or today if I dont make BP, to get a few things done to the Jeep. It'll be out of commission for a few days, but I do want to get out there with you guys and see what its all about over there.
Dana

From what I've learned on the forum, real jeeps must fit some very certain criteria. I don't know ALL of the rules since it was only 23 years ago that I drove a Wrangler for the first time, but here's what I've picked up so far:
1. Real jeeps don't have hard tops, although my dad's '78 CJ was a hard top. That would have been one cool jeep if only it were a real jeep...
2. Real jeeps only have 2 doors. ALL 4 door jeeps should only belong to soccer moms and girly men.
3. Having air conditioning in your jeep, whether you use it or not, puts you in the same category as the 4 door jeeps
4. In order to properly lift a jeep, you should mine the iron ore yourself to forge the steel to make the parts. Short of that, you should probably just take up needlework, Sally.
5. If you happen to miss waving to another wrangler, you're just part of the problem that's going to destroy society as we know it
6. Anything that adds to the comfort of a jeep must also take away from it's abilities on the trail. I'm not sure how this works out mathematically, but it's fact.
7. Washing your jeep? You might as well be taking estrogen pills. Rubbing it with a handful of gravel is what really makes it look nice...

I'm sure there's a lot more to being a real jeeper than that, but it's all I have time to type at the moment
