Okay, now that we have set our dates, it's time to get this ball rolling... Once again, FATF will be a charity event. Pointe Of Hope will again be our beneficiary. For any new to FATF, POH feeds and clothes the homeless in Austin. Doc Holliday is affiliated with them and suggested them to me for our last event. We were so successful in raising money for them and they were truly grateful for our help. So I think keeping them on board is the way to go.
Bryan, Brett and all the guys at Hidden Falls will again be our host site. Those of you who are new to Freaks, and have never been to HF, will really enjoy this place. It is the largest off road park in Texas and offers well over 200 miles of trails. If you are driving a stock rig, no need to fear. There is plenty to do and we have no prejudices against those with non-modded Jeeps. No matter what your rig's capabilities are and no matter what your skill level is, you will surely have a good time. All info on Hidden Falls can be found here... http://hiddenfallsadventurepark.com/offroad.html
I will be talking to Bryan and Brett this week and getting things squared away with them. We will once again offer a group discount to all attendees. Our list will go up in August and it will close the last week in September. That gives everyone plenty of time to make plans for this run. Last time I had a few complaints from people who dragged their feet and didn't get signed up in time. As much as it bothered me to tell them, I did not make exceptions. This time will be no different. IF YOU ARE NOT ON THE ATTENDANCE LIST BY THE END OF SEPTEMBER, YOU WILL NOT GET THE DISCOUNT.
Camping at Hidden Falls is a breeze. There are improved sites (Area "A") near the front (with water and electric) and primitive sites (Area "B") closer to the trails. The event headquarters and staging area will again be at Area "B". If you do not wish to camp, there are plenty of places to stay in Marble Falls, which is only a ten or fifteen minute drive from the park. The local Motel 6, which is actually very clean and very nice, has a standing agreement with the park. When you make your reservations, simply mention you will be going to Hidden Falls and they will apply your discount. It usually runs about $60-$70 a per night.
We will once again offer a raffle. It will again take place on Saturday evening. I will fill you in on sponsors shortly. Tickets for the raffle will again be $2.00 each and ALL proceeds will go to Pointe Of Hope.
As I mentioned in the poll thread, we already have two sponsors on board... Returning to sponsor us again, I want to thank in advance Marcus Rose at River City Off Road.
Marcus is a staple here and knowing him personally I can honestly say he is one of the good ones. I am very thankful that he agreed to be on board again and look forward to seeing what he pulls out of his goodie box for this one. Second, I want to welcome Don and the folks at Pixel Decals.
Don graciously agreed to design our decals for this event and I will have some special news and a sneak peek and those decals very soon. Zibco did a great job for us in the past, but we understand that change happens. And having Pixel on board is a huge bonus for us this time. I want to thank them in advance, as well. Next, I would like to welcome a brand new sponsor! Please say hello to Joe and the folks at Texas Performance Powdercoating, located in Texas City! Joe is a member here (username "txhotrod") and has agreed to donate services to the raffle. We are proud to have another Texas company on board. I am currently discussing sponsorship with former sponsors and new ones, so there will be plenty of new news to come. I would also like to take a moment and thank seaver for putting together the promo video I posted above. He did a great job.I will be working with him on more media for this thing. Dave and I will be working on the t-shirts over the next month or so. I will keep y'all updated... Finally, as I mentioned before, this is first and foremost a Freaks event. There is a Facebook event page, but the bulk of the info will be here. Those who are already members can come here and get any news they need. Any other news that is not of serious importance will also be on the FB page, but Freaks will get theirs here before everyone else. I believe that all off roaders are a family. But I also believe in this website. And that is my driving force for these runs. That being said, I mentioned in the poll thread that FATF will now be an annual event and not semi-annual. Doing this twice a year takes up a lot of my time and money. It is also too much to ask sponsors to give away items multiple times every year, especially when there is also FreakFest up north to take into account. So this will be the last FATF until next fall. I'm sure we'll put together a sizable run in the spring (in fact, you can count on me doing that), but FATF will have to be something we look forward to every fall, instead off every spring and fall. There are probably a few things I missed, but we've got plenty of time! So let's get ready to wheel!
