are you leaving friday night or saturday? Those leaving friday can meet at bill Millers at 37s and 1604, those showing up saturday are meeting at Heb somewhere closer to the beach.

the HEB is about 15 miles from where we are meeting. You will pass it on the way to the beach.

I'm leaving out on Friday night after she get off work. We are staying in rockport because I am taking a customer and his family out for dinner Saturday night and fishing on Sunday. But will hang out with y'all for the majority of the day so I can have some real fun. Still trying to talk a buddy to bring his jeep down too. See y'all there

Was suppose to be outside of Texas this weekend, but was able to rearrange my schedule to be able to attend the Corpus Christie Event. Since will not have a Jeep again until later this year, for this year will just drop in at the end of the convey. This event sounds like much fun! Count me in.
Will look for a hotel room for the dog and myself tonight and tomorrow. As a backup, will pick up some inexpensive camping gear if no suitable hotel room.
Never been to Corpus Christie or the Texas Coast. Is this area prone to things like rip currents?
If anyone needs a hotel room to stash things like doors, contact me:
Will NOT be on Wrangler Forum.

I don't recommend staying on that side of town.....it's not the best of neighborhood and it's far from the beach. JMO.

So, does the Holiday Inn Convention Center on Leopard St. qualify for that part of town? I know it's not close, but I am getting the nights free because of Reward Points - free is good!

Mostly concerned with the safety issue, especially since I figure we will be getting back late at night.

Still a rough area, can you get Holiday Inn Express which is on the beach or the H. Inn on ocean Drive downtown?

I have given some serious thought to camping on the beach, so that would be my next option.

Glad you and Wrangler_Man could provide some input. Should have asked a little sooner, but the "FREE" sign in my mind kinda got in the way.

OK peeps here is an up date... We will be going to Doc's afterwards for dinner and drinks. This is going to cost 15.00 dollars per person and includes your meal and a soft drink. But there is a cash/credit bar there. Every Jeep attending will receive 1 raffle ticket for door prizes! So lets make this a big turn out. Thanks JeepPadre!

We are camping on the beach. My fiance and my two boys. I know of one other camping friday night.

Also...you are coming from Austin right? We are coming down from Waco friday at noon so should be going through Austin about 2ish to meet the SA group. We could meet up on 35 or do you go another route?

Where would you recommend especially for someone bring a dog?

Many Holiday Inns now allow dogs.
Many times can get a discount at Holiday Inns or Best Western.

Other chains like Merott often charge $150 per stay for a dog.

Red Roof, Motel 6, etc. almost always pets for free.
Corp owned, refurbished Motel 6s are normally nice.

Others vary.

What would you recommend?

Like to fly under the radar and have fun.

Too many problems in ordinary life; so good to avoid.

Thanks for the information.

Like others, am influenced by costs.

If on an expense account or a special occasion with a special person, stay in nice hotels. If on a fixed rate and I pay for hotel, stay in less nice.

With my corporate discount, Red Roof said something like $60 per night for King Business Suite. They said it was off 37 and 1.8 miles from the action. Will try again tomorrow.

Staying in a hotel is not special for me. It is not unusual for me to stay 300 + nights per year in hotels. Sometimes I wake up trying to remember what city and state I am in.

An unusual and busy week for me to start Monday at Fidelity Investments in Boston. Wednesday afternoon fly to LA and Amgen Pharmaceutical. Finish the week there. Repeat.

I talked to Viviana, Chile Pepper – she is from Chile, in Indy. She wants to come but cannot. She says she still passes the pencil test. Does this qualify for go topless day ???

Any other recommendations for hotels? Thanks.

What's happening in Gal?

Rubi - sounds good. I was planning on taking the tollway (SH130) around Austin and then 183 south to 37 on the south side of SA.

PM me with a phone number and we can coordinate.

@Wrangler - don't like walking that far, and I like my Jeep! Thanks for the inside skinny!
