Thanks Tx, I started noticing while spending countless hours on the net searching through what seems like a never ending sea of kits. They all "look" the same with slight variations to each. The difference of $250 for quicker disconnected? Honestly I don't ever see myself using that. I prefer mud and light trials. This jeep is technically my daily driver besides my work truck. 95% of the time this rig won't be offroad. I'm also not looking for a Jeep Cadillac I could care less if the ride is a little rough when I hit a bump, for god sakes that's why its called a bump in the road. I guess my question is, is of worth the trouble to get the 4 inch rc lift or should I just mix and match parts to get clearance for 33's? I want to run 33's.

Tx when u gonna let me come by and check out ur jeep??

The lower CAs that RC includes in their kits have stock-like rubber bushings while others have poly bushings. Neither are fantastic, but at least the RC arms function like stock arms and are not as stiff as poly.
The kit lacks bumpstop extensions, but that alone is probably the least expensive option they could've left out.
With their N2.0 shocks, the ride is hardly rough.

It's all going to come down to how much you feel like spending on a setup. You're not going to do any better if you want to stay at the $500 range by piecing parts together. When you mix and match, the benefit is aquiring parts that are superior to anything you'll find in a box kit. In that scenerio, you can easily buy shocks alone that cost near what that whole kit costs.

I'll be out in the garage most of the weekend. I'm working on a TJ on Saturday, and JK on Sunday. Somewhere in there I need to get some work done on the TJ I'm building for my buddy's daughter. Eventually I'll get to my own TJ.

Pure and simple.......You have to move away from a "box-kit" lift to get anything different.

RC's product is as good (and in some cases better) as any of those fore-mentioned companies...at a fraction of the price.
They are making their money on volume sales and reduced and free marketing vs selling through 4 Wheel Parts and Quadratec. It's simple business dynamics....not "it's the cheapest...you get what you pay for." That's a scare tactic by people that don't know any better.
Haha okay. Do you shop at AutoZone also? When it come to RC lifts the saying usely goes "you can pay me now, or you can pay me later" referring to bringing it back in two years because the bushings are shot and sloppy.

Not really going to get into the arguement.
I wasn't praising RC by any means. I was just saying that they are of the same quality as the rest of the box kits......take that as good or bad.
Like any of the other companies above, and there is no reason RC would be any different.

I agree 100%. I just cringe when someone tries to lift anything for the lowest amount of cash possible. I have went this rout and learned my lesson. Sadly I have seen lots of good riding vehicles turned into nightmares by this train of thought.

I'm new here to the Wrangler Forum and stumbled across this section, I live in Deer Park. Great info for places to go. I just landed my first Jeep. A 2004 LJ with a 4.5" Rubicon Express on 35" BFG. I'm chomping at the bit to take it off road. I have to be a little cautious, as I don't have a winch and I've never run or owned a 4x4 so it's all new to me. I went to that place in Crosby years ago on a quad, I didn't know they were still around, I'll have to check it out again.

The place that was behind the motocross track is closed. I think it was called Outlaw. I guess DSO took their business.

Got my first jeep last weekend, but me and the wife will most likely be out there! If you see a white wrangler yj with a tan top and black doors that's me! Trying to get a buddy of mine to come down from Austin and tag along as well! No winch yet and it's my daily driver right now so ill have to take her a little easy but it'll still be fun!

Hey Jeepsters,

New guy here from Bearcreek area and trying to find some ways to meet up with a group of people who like to have fun with their jeeps. I own a '97 TJ since 1997 and finally have develop a taste to explore those less travelled roads. Everything is stock right now with exception of the MBTKO's rim and the 31x10.50 tires.planning on a mild lift(2.5-4 max)

Thanks BD123! It was originally black, but the paint had faded and cracked, so I(insert the financial advisor) decided to go with a white black scheme.
