I will be heading to Laughlin in about 6 months. Are there any good trails in the area?

not sure about that area, but you are a few hours away from Big Bend National Park.

Yeah I saw that on the map. Is it worth the 4 hour drive?

I've never been myself, but it is most definitely on my list. My buddy took his jeep out there and said it was awesome. You definitely want to have someone else with you. Not much around that area. It's not going to be the same as an offroad park with lots of trails specifically for rock crawling, etc...

this link may help though. As you will notice, many parks in texas are more for ATV vs full size jeeps. That and most land in texas is private.

If you are going ANYWHERE off-road in the Big Bend area you better be packing some SERIOUS heat. That is PRIME Mexican smuggling and drug traffic territory since its desert out in the middle of nowhere.

I'm sure the locals would HEAVILY advise against it. Jus sayin...

Only thing I know of is the TMTC facility at Esconido Draw near Ozona - about 2 hrs north of Del Rio:

.

Definitely good to know. I'm in Tucson now so we have to be careful when we go south but thanks for the tip.

You may have to be careful, but "locals would HEAVILY advise against it"--I would disagree. Google Big Bend Jeep and you will find lots of posts on another forum(jeepforum.com). Many are from very recent of trips and their experiences out there.

Personally, I wouldn't let it prevent me from going out there.

I will still make the trip but I will definitely keep my head on a swivel and be cautious. I can hold my own against the cartels haha.
