On board light mod

I got this idea from Alamo_beer, but thought I would share. The light came out of a suburban from the mid 90's. It is retractable and hard wired to the battery. The cord has a reach of at least 20 ft, so can be used any where it is needed on a jeep. I installed it on the tray under the brake master cylinder. It was $10 at the pick yard up by Killeen, Tx. It comes in handy if you forget a flashlight. One thing you will want to do is glue a magnet to the bottom of the light to hold it while you are working.

The 3rd pic is just showing how far the light will reach. The 4th is sitting on the rear bumper with lots of cord left. It a cheap mod that might come in handy some time.

Your right those lights are great. I had one in my Chevy P/U. Did you see any more Chevy's with that under the hood light at that Pick-A-part?

Alamo_beer picked it up for me, but said they are pretty easy to find at the pick yards.

For $10 bucks, it's hard to miss was my thought.

Bah, $10!?!?! It was more like $2. Last time I was there (I went to the Wrench A Part in Austin off 71) I bought a handful of things and don't even think I got charged for the light. When you go looking for one it's on the passengers side firewall held on by two 10mm (I think) bolts. Make sure you clip off the wire and get the pigtail with it.

Nice writeup Jeeper!
