Padre Island National Seashore this weekend

My buddy and I are heading down Padre Island this weekend (2nd&3rd) to put the jeeps in 4x4 and do some shark fishing. If anyone is going down there, stop by and say hello. I will be in a silver unlimited(lj) with black wheels and my buddy will be in a white tj with chrome wheels. We will be leaving late sat. (2nd) afternoon and coming back sun. sometime. I have lived here off and on all my life and I have never gone all the way down to the end. I will this weekend.

It's a lot of fun, longggggggggggggggg drive to the end, went year before last and had a good time. About mile 38-60 (pre-hurricane Ike) the soft sand was a blast to drive, no idea what it's like after Ike.

are you going to big shell?

last time i went, (last summer)

the beach has water all the way to the dunes, near the jetty

i drove through it and all the way to the end, it's fun but my jeep gets such bad gas mileage, i cant get to the end with 1 tank and then back to the gas station so i bought a 5 gallon tank and filled it up for the return trip

it is a 4 banger with 3.73 gears and 32x11.5 mudders
my avatar is near the end (in big shell)

I can try to get a group together in the future. I got a bunch together from the DFW area, San Antonio, and Austin. Quite a few showed up, so no worries about people backing out. I was one of those that ended up having to work, and couldn't go, so I am still in need of a trip to the end. I have been to Corpus tons of times. My aunt used to have a house on the island.

Add another from the DFW to your list. I'm originally from Corpus but moved to Frisco back in 98. I'm actually heading for the coast after work on Friday...heading straight for PINS on saturday for some fishing and to get the jeep a little dirty. I come back Monday evening.

Not sure. We'd just have to plan something. The last one we did we planned it about 8 months out. I had an Austin Jeep Club and a San Antonio Jeep Club hook up with one from DFW. I'd have to find their contact info. I'm sure some guys from Houston would probably be up for it too. I know guys from the Galveston/Houston area clubs that would be in. It would depend on what other things are going on, and how much notice they got.

Camosabi- How far down are you going. I was thinking of doing some fishing this weekend myself. Let me know.

ChrisTX- I would be down for a Jeep run down the beach anytime.( with fore warning-due to the kids) I think the best time to go down the beach for the weekend is anytime. Anyway, see when would work out for everyone, I have few guys around here that might be in too(they are alittle flaky!!!!). We just got my brothers Jeep back on the road so he still needs to test the new axle, and what better time then when you are surrounded by other Jeeps right?

I'm in! I realize this thread is old, but if any of you guys are still around and interested in a PINS Trip, I'm there, just give me a headsup on the date so I can make arrangements!

I plan on going to South Padre Island again Memorial Weekend, I was down there April 1st-3rd with the Jeep. Next time we're taking my s10, may not be 4x4, but gas mileage is better and I can haul more.
