Possibly moving to Longview?

Anyone on here live in Longview?

Might attend a university there. How is it? Offroading? I have tons of questions!

Dont live there now, but I went to high school there. My dad and my brother still live there.

What questions you have?

Barnwell mountain is real close if you like rocks. Rabbit creek is right on 20, but they may have stopped letting Jeeps in. Also Gator Run is right down the road and they both have good trail rides. Or you can head North into oklahoma/Arkansas to the Kiamichi trail. Never done that but plan to soon.
When you get into the area check out North East Texas Jeepers on facebook and the East Texas Jeep Club etxjc.org to connect with other Jeepers in the area. I am in the Tyler area, but travel to Longview a couple times a week and am amazed at the number of Jeeps there!

Thanks guys!

I just have a couple different questions. Like crime rate? Is it a college town? Places to avoid? Best places to hang out? Relaxed town?

I don't know what the actual crime rate is, but its probably average to low. If there is much crime I would think it's small stuff. You can find out stats on city-data.com.

Not much of a college town, but there are a few places to hang out. Most people road trip to Tyler or even Shreveport if you really want to do it up right.

Try to avoid the south side of town. Anything North and you should be ok.

Relaxed is a great way to describe Longview. Very blue collar, down to earth place with very nice people.

If you end up in Frankies one night ask for Jr. Tell him his brother said to buy you a drink. You'll drink free all night

I would guess the crime rate to be average, it is a growing town and stuff is moving North at a crazy rate. Tyler is more of a college town, but seems to be much more conservative. You really will not be just about in the middle of Shreveport and Dallas, so all the fun you can want is only a couple hours away. Plus great fishing all around here!
