Question about power: 2000 Wrangler 2.4L

I have a 2000 Jeep Wrangler (Daily Driver) 2.4L with 31" tires with 4.11 gears and I'm wondering if there is anyway I can get more power out of it, I loose power going up hills. I cant afford to change out the motor and I definitely
cant afford a newer Jeep. This is my first wrangler and I wanna do things right. Thank You

Correct me if I'm wrong but the 2.4l didn't come in the TJ's till 2003. I believe you have a 2.5l. Anyhow, either way it's a 4 popper. No magic cure except for gearing.

My mistake on the motor size, for some reason I had the .4 in my head. What gears should I put in? I read somewhere to put 4.88's in a 4 banger.

2000 Jeep Wrangler 2.5

What type of gears should I put in my Jeep so I can make it up hills on the freeway. I'm running 31" tires with 4.11 rear-end. Any idea of what I should be running, rear wise. Thank You

Lots of previous threads on this but I'd go at least 4:56's. Assuming it has the Dana 30/35 combo you should be able to go as big as 4:88's but that might be overkill for your driving needs. Oh and unless you plan on NEVER putting it in 4x4 you have to match your front and rear gears.

Hope this helps and don't forget to post your results!!
